March 30, 201511 yr The bookies seem to be saying Cameron favourite to be PM, but a Labour Minority Govt Even they are confused Does make some sort of sense that. Were Labour to be the largest party without a majority there'd still be some way to go for them securing a coalition. Presumably the Tories, if again the largest party, would have a ready made go to plan with the Lib Dems. So it would only be an issue if between them they didn't have enough seats?
March 30, 201511 yr Presumably the Tories, if again the largest party, would have a ready made go to plan with the Lib Dems. I cannot see much Lib Dem appetite for that after the last 5 years.
March 30, 201511 yr I don't think the lib dens will be able to make much difference whichever way it goes As it stands it's the SNP's who will have the best hand Plenty of time for some twists and turns yet though
March 30, 201511 yr As it stands it's the SNP's who will have the best hand those cunts should've be allowed past Carlisle never mind have a say in parliament And that Nicola one wears a syrup
March 30, 201511 yr I cannot see much Lib Dem appetite for that after the last 5 years. You can't see them wanting 5 more years in the limelight before inevitable oblivion? I can see them grabbing onto it for dear life. Lib Dems will still have 20 odd seats I think. So easily could be in coalition with the Conservatives again. In fact IMO that is the most likely outcome right now.
March 30, 201511 yr I don't think the lib dens will be able to make much difference whichever way it goes As it stands it's the SNP's who will have the best hand Plenty of time for some twists and turns yet though It'll be interesting to see if Miliband, given the choice, partners with the SNPs or the Tories. If it were the SNPs then he would have no principles.
March 30, 201511 yr It'll be interesting to see if Miliband, given the choice, partners with the SNPs or the Tories. If it were the SNPs then he would have no principles. Haven't the SNP already said they won't be part of a coalition but would support Labour on some issues as a minority government? Which means basically everything held at the ransom of the SNP. But in those circumstance likely that Miliband won't have a choice if he wants the gig.
March 30, 201511 yr The thought of Weird Ed and the SNP Terrifies me! Have things been that bad under the current Government?
March 30, 201511 yr The thought of Weird Ed and the SNP Terrifies me! Have things been that bad under the current Government? Things have gone as well as could have been hoped IMO, economy wise A lot of the nasty - and not even very effective - policies have let them down, it's hard to get on board with that stuff But we surely can't allow a Labour / SNP shitshow to be put in charge of affairs, an absolute recipe for disaster
March 30, 201511 yr Don't panic yet. Libs will do better than is currently predicted and the Tories will bounce. It wouldn't surprise me if we had a repeat of 1992. And if it is Labour SNP then the country deserves everything it fucking gets. Edited March 30, 201511 yr by Maggie Tate
March 31, 201511 yr Who gets to be PM? Is it the leader of the latest coalition or the leader of the largest single party?
March 31, 201511 yr Who gets to be PM? Is it the leader of the latest coalition or the leader of the largest single party? Hmm...........is it not who the Queen lets become PM?
March 31, 201511 yr At teh last one, Brown as the incumbent was invited to see if he could form a coalition first, he/they couldn't agree with the Lib Dems, they started talking to the tories then Brown unilaterally announced that it wasn't happening, that he was stepping down, and caught everyone off their guard
March 31, 201511 yr Who gets to be PM? Is it the leader of the latest coalition or the leader of the largest single party? Entirely depends. One can assume that whoever is the largest single party will have the PM, IF they can secure a majority through coalition, agreement, or otherwise. If they can't and say the result between the Cons and Labour was very very close it is possible that the other party might be able to form a government in coalition and have their leader as PM. Bottom line is there is only two possible PMs, Cameron or Milliband. Nobody else has a chance of leading the country.

Boils down to if Dc can have enough influence to run the country.. Generally accepted to do the right thing.. Labour won't have many friends up there.. As snp don't agree on key policies..

Labour won't have many friends up there.. As snp don't agree on key policies.. Ultimately, very hard to form a coalition if you're not the largest party as everyone knows it becomes suicide if you're seen to be going against the mandate from voters. If it is very close however, then that becomes a different matter.
March 31, 201511 yr Hmm...........is it not who the Queen lets become PM? Not really. More like who the Cabinet Secretary advises her should be given the opportunity. It could easily be that Labour has the most seats but Conservatives have the most votes (this counts for nothing but would alter perception).
March 31, 201511 yr I cannot see much Lib Dem appetite for that after the last 5 years. ???????? The only possible way meandering centrists will ever have any power is to form a coalition with one of the big two. The Dim Lebs have tasted power now and I am absolutely sure they will jump at the chance to be relevant again for possibly the last time. Much as I don't like to see Conservatism watered down it is infinitely better than a coalition between the red rags and the mouthy jocks. The UK will be well and truly fucked if that is allowed to happen.
March 31, 201511 yr Clegg is a shyster who would cosy up to any bugger that will give him a whiff of power. Let's hope that their upcoming and well deserved electoral kicking renders them irrelevant. Edited March 31, 201511 yr by mickbrown

March 31, 201511 yr Clegg is a shyster who would cosy up to any bugger that will give him a whiff of power. Let's hope that their upcoming and well deserved electoral kicking renders them irrelevant. Very much seems that way. Love that he slates the tory party despite being in bed with them for the last five years.. He'll turn coat at the first opportunity.. Which will only damage the party further. Red ed won't discuss a coalition as he knows it's a vote loser.. And he honestly thinks he can get a majority on his own.
March 31, 201511 yr Kinell Mick - we agree! I take it you'll be voting Green as they are the most left of the left? Wonders never cease!! A lot of what the Greens say resonates with me, but then I remember that they are a bunch of hippies and it's probably a wasted vote.
March 31, 201511 yr Red ed won't discuss a coalition as he knows it's a vote loser.. And he honestly thinks he can get a majority on his own. No politician will openly discuss a coalition before the result because they know it is dangerous to do so. Cameron apparently is already working on another Lib Dem coalition. For me I find the whole "SNP" scaremongering people use tedious. Already we know there can be no formal Labour/SNP coalition because the SNP have said they will only do it on an issue by issue basis. However, it seems that coalition will be planted in everyone's minds by the Conservatives. Frankly they don't need to do that. Stand on your record and fight via that. It is the tedious mud slinging that turns everyone off.
