May 16, 201511 yr I went most home games and loads of away games that season, i loved the crazy days in my early 30s watching crap. But it was a time when you had good mates around you and meet up and down the country and have a good laugh.
May 16, 201511 yr Chandler had been sold before the start of 85/6. He went to Derby. My memory is that when be came back to Burnden with his new team that Autumn he got absolute dogs abuse from all parts of the ground but mainly the Manny Road North Terrace. Can remember stuff being lobbed over the fence at him including a meat and potato pie! According to Wiki, he now works with young offenders. So the experience was probably a useful one for him in hindsight.

May 17, 201511 yr Author Big Trev signed in the summer of 87 before the Div 4 season. Was playing against us in 85/6 and 86/7 for Bristol Rovers I think. He certainly scored against us.
May 17, 201511 yr It was a poor season of course but there are some good memories.The massive queues outside the Bolton end at Blackpool on Boxing Day stretching from the Kop all the way along the ground to Bloomfield Road, the 1,500 plus following at Darlington for the Freight Rover semi and the glory of beating Wigan to get to Wembley.And it was the season Wolves were in freefall, so bad we did the double on them and their crowds were lower than we've ever sunk to.
May 17, 201511 yr Author Wolves was the first win of the season 4-1 at Burnden. They brought a very low following from memory. About 500. All of them looking for trouble. The Blackpool boxing day game was the first time we'd played them for eight years. Previous occasion was also boxing day in 77 when we took in excess of 10,000. Probably only 4,000 there in 1985 but Blackpool didn't seem to expect the turnout. The Kop was packed and we had half the side terrace too. They hammered us throughout that game but we somehow drew 1-1 with them equalising very late. Sadly they won 1-3 at Bolton over Easter 86 - they haven't won in Bolton since.

May 19, 201511 yr There used to be a kids programme filmed at the Octagon Theatre starting a Blackpool Tower clown called Charlie Carolli. The show was called "Right Charlie!" Am I imagining it or did Charlie Wright used to come on the pitch to the theme music?

Think, but not 100%, he moved up to Scotland. I know he was a big Rangers fan and use to do coaches up there. Maybe he wanted to be closer to them cunts.
May 25, 201511 yr This was my first season .Living in nottingham my first ever match was at forest in the milk cup lost 4-0 (all goals conceded in last 20 minutes i think).Also remember it kicking off during and after the game big time.My first home game was when we somehow beat the league leaders reading 2-0.I still look back on that squad with affection even though we were rather shite. Went on a mini bus he organised up to Skol Cup Final at Hampden, Rangers v Aberdeen, must haven been 1985/6ish. Straight after Rochdale away on the Saturday up for the game on the Sunday. He was supposed to have sorted tickets out via Neil Berry but needless to say ended up paying some Jock cunt over the odds outside the game. Owed us money so ended up going Newport away free on his mini bus, weeknight coz that's only way I'd have got it back. Sure it was him anyway. We were shite in them days think we threw a 2-0 lead away at Rochdale that weekend, must have been our only season in Div 4 sure it was a League game.

Remember thinking we were shit for only drawing at Rochdale but then again probably a decent result. funny how time plays tricks on mind, definitely that same game though bet we've only played Rochdale at Spotland in the league once in our history?
