Biggest Surprise Ever As A Wanderer

One choice only please folk.

For me,....getting promotion in 1994/95.

It was also the catalyst for bigger things, obviously debatable but it was IMHO as it built on the progress already made.

As the heading is surprise.

Surely it has to be the win at Anfield in the FA Cup replay.

An amazing night.

That was a year after 9/11.

Surely shit were not still mental.

At last, someone who can translate for me!

Even though I was a bit young to really appreciate it at the time it would have to be the Garry Jones show against City for sheer magnitude of an upset, followed by White Hot.

yeah, someone before you pointed it out that we played wallsall in the league cup on sept 11th 2001 , and i replied to that ,  all before you wrote this.

ironic

the okocha last min penalty against tottenham , were also a "fuckin' hell" game , although i'm not sure how that affected our Staying Up chances.

i remember it being important that we won, but i might be wrong.

For me it's Ricky putting us one up at Bayern with a right foot volley. Admittedly I was absolutely smashed, but I kept rubbing my eyes to try and believe it was happening. We put such a terrible side out too.

I'd also just necked a beer in the ground wondering how on earth they were allowed to sell it. Only twigged about a year later that it was non alcoholic. No doubt it left me feeling more drunk.

I know I started the thread and said only one choice, but a big surprise just re-emerged in my noggin.

I remember the plans for the exec style boxes on the embankment in the 80's.

Imagine the delight at what followed....

Years later, the Reebok blueprints came out...........

Pleasantly surprised when they finally tallied.

I bet not many old termers thought they would ?

I still find it amazing that we went from near extinction to the reebok being built in less than 8 years.

Where the fuck did the money come from? :)

Probably someone I have on ignore.

There are quite a few.

And it appears someone needs to teach the meaning of the word "ironic" to you.

Never got the whole ignore thing.

What's the point in frequently visiting a forum and then putting posters on ignore?

The wins at Liverpool and Arsenal were both brilliant performances and I was lucky to have been at both games.

However, the biggest surprise was the 2-1 win at Old Trafford back in 1979. If my memory is correct we didn't do much in the game other than score two goals. I was I the Scoreboard Paddock that day and didn't even smile until I got back to the car, but I enjoyed the victory even more because of 1) how undeserved it was and 2) how angry the United fans were.

Never got the whole ignore thing.

Who said that? :-)

I've never got the ignore thing.

See, I'm a nosey fucker so I'm not sure why you'd put folk on ignore. Seems a bit odd

Sometimes it just gets a tad old reading the exact same post time after time from some on here.

Sometimes I even try and predict what is hidden under the ignored post, and 9 times out of 10 I'm correct.
