Foreign Aid Budget

Fuck knows, a few months ago we had one of the strongest economies in the world, now it doesn't look like we have anymore. Maybe it is time to cut back, on that basis. But previously, clearly we were doing something right. Now we've been voted out of the EU by a load of old people and layabouts, fuck knows. Welcome to Farage's Britain.

What parallel universe you living in? Our economy is still one of the strongest and forecast by all the notable agencies this year to out perform the EU countries, you need to get over it.

  • Don't worry we will soon have an extra £350m all week to do just that

We may as well close the borders, stop trading with folk and become completely insular. After all, it's not done North Korea much harm eh.

You accuse others of extreme views. FFS.

Think you need to take a tablet and have a lie down luvvie. There's a good lad.

I don't know why, but this made me laugh, a lot

Because it's idiotic?

Fuck it, everyone else is spouting ill-informed bollocks, I'm just joining in.

Fair enough then!

Probably, I didn't agree with it, just the turn of phrase made me laugh

given the whole point of a girl band is they are meant to be fit, them lot don't deserve a penny

Once that's done you pay taxes.

That funds our society. If were struggling a bit some of those funds from taxes should be used here not sent overseas.

If your company was to start struggling, you'd look at unnecessary expenditure.

Depends if you see it as an investment or a cost.

As an investment, it creates more income which creates more tax.

It only becomes a cost if it is a capital or costs of sales cost - if its becomes a burden then you do away with it - either way they fluctuate depending on growth or decline. Both instances can be supported by investment.

So if we invest x with y and it creates income of x+z, then its an investment worth making and not a cost.

Why?

We stopped some of India's aid not long ago: a nuclear country with a space program.

Its common sense; use it where its genuinely needed, and ensure it doesn't find its way to corrupt individuals.

Don't have to get rid entirely, but use the wasted money in house.

Sorry if it seems like I'm only picking up your posts but it is in our interests to have a historic and political ally on the other side of the world with big guns and stuff - especially one with a massive economy.

I'd agree about corruption though, there must be some backdoor money disappearing in some dodgy regimes.

Somewhat hypocritically, I don't give any money to charities doing good abroad, Red Cross, Oxfam, etc - as  Maggie Tait once wrote, 'its not money they need its condoms' but that's another discussion. :)

Give a man a condom - and he'll have safe sex for a day. Give a man the means to produce his own Johnny bags and spermicide and he'll be at it like a rabbit whilst having the knock on effect of population control and disease reduction.

Summat like that anyway :-)

Unless he's catholic and living in a hut. :)

No problems. I understand your business's analogy but as I understand it foreign aid isn't for businesses. Its for infrastructure projects like bringing safe water in etc. Usually in impoverished countries.

Yes it helps build good relationships etc and where its being used for genuine good then great.

Five million for a sodding music band is bollocks.

Nice have just today said they won't fund a cancer drug- too expensive. How many examples of this shitty funding are there? A few of these might allow someone's mum or sister a bit longer, or someone's gran a more pleasant place to see out their years in.

Can't solve all the countries issues with this but its warped as it is.

Haha

Hard to disagree when farces like that arise but its an extreme example. On the other hand if it encourages people (and women) out of the Stone Age then its perhaps not a bad thing - just executed (pardon the pun) badly.

So did this girl band actually get £5m or was it a case of the money being given to help improve exporting arts/culture and some of it helped out this girl band?

And there's nowt I can find that says the band have had 5 million

Its monies spent on hopefully making women in Ethiopia safer

And a part of that funds the girls who are singing songs to educate not fcuking wannabe

Probably not in the daily mail or the sun, that bit

Yeah but still

Who let the dogs out

Not worth 100k

No

It was to spread the word that getting yer bits hacked at or twattted by a bloke isn't something you should have to put up with

And there's nowt I can find that says the band have had 5 million

There's a good reason for that

Surely nobody believes they actually got handed millions of pounds

I think posh people should start wearing sideburns and top hats again, and scums of the earth should don neckerchieves, waistcoats and clogs - roll their pantlegs and shirtcuffs up a bit an' all...

We'd soon be great once more.

The bonus being that we could hear you approaching.

You'd do neither, you could wear a Drizabone and kookaburra and rattle a few empty tinnies of Fosters, like your adopted countrymen do...
