Tonge moor green jacket Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 Forgot it was today! Bit low, just hope it's a proper bowling wicket. Pity about the run out. Quote

Tonge moor green jacket Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 League Cup. All teams are in it. Quote
Piemon Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 Disappointing end to a disappointing One day season for Lancs. Got some good young cricketers coming through so the future looks bright but the here and now it's been a rough watch at times in the Blast and One Day Cup. 4 more Championship Games to secure Div 1 status for next season and we can put this season behind us. I'd personally like to see a new Head Coach in charge next season and not another jobs for the boys kind of appointment. Someone from the outside who can come in and be a coach and make us a better team as the talent is definitely there imo. Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted August 25, 2023 Posted August 25, 2023 A mixed bag, but the weather has played a big part for me. Must be soul destroying. Irrespective of how good or bad you may be, if you don't get to play, whilst others do, you're playing catch up from the off. Quote

Could do, but generally the trend is for higher temps all round, meaning more dull roads down south, and better pitches here! If the southerners have hosepipe bans, then their grounds may become deserts too. 😁 Quote
globaldiver Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Bohannon! Must be in the England thinking soon Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted September 5, 2023 Posted September 5, 2023 Big score. Make some inroads into their batting this afternoon, hopefully. Quote
Piemon Posted September 5, 2023 Posted September 5, 2023 Great recovery. George Balderson is turning into a very good All Rounder Quote

Tonge moor green jacket Posted September 5, 2023 Posted September 5, 2023 A steady bowling effort this. Not going to be easy with the heat, but spinners should play a decent part. Quote

Tonge moor green jacket Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 Kinell, I hadn't even checked the score! Commentators were only saying yesterday that Wells can bowl a bit, and that he regards himself as being better than a part timer! Tremendous effort. A funny table this season. Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted September 6, 2023 Posted September 6, 2023 Three games left? Another bizarre set up where all teams don't play each other twice. For me, that's plain wrong. Anyway, could still finish second I reckon. Quote
Piemon Posted September 10, 2023 Posted September 10, 2023 Good start today after being asked to field. Hopefully wrap up their innings in the morning for under 150. Looking forward to a day at OT tomorrow weather permitting Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted September 13, 2023 Posted September 13, 2023 Got a chance of winning this. Would be a great effort considering time lost to weather. Quote
Piemon Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 Another disappointing yet predictable draw at home. The wickets we play on at OT don't break up enough to bowl sides out twice (especially when time is lost to rain) Nice to see Vilas bat for one last time and a great innings too. Shame time has caught up with him after a great 6/7 years. Big shoes to fill next season. id play another youngster for the final two championship games this season in preparation for next season preferably Matty Hurst. Notts at home from Tuesday this week although the forecast is awful Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 The time lost also means less foot traffic to wear down and break up the surface. Double whammy. I might be wrong, but didn't the ECB ask for wickets to be drier and less traditionally English, to help batsmen improve? Not impressed with the way the longer format has been shifted about neither. Beginning and end of the season we're bound to have more time lost to bad weather, which helps no one improve. I reckon Lancs would have won the game had their been more time available. Quote
Piemon Posted September 28, 2023 Posted September 28, 2023 Glen Chapple steps down. Thanks for the service and all that but definitely the right time for this to happen. Quote

globaldiver Posted September 29, 2023 Posted September 29, 2023 Who was the last Boltonian to be the highest run scorer over a season? Quote

No, the highest run scorer in Div 1 county championship. And heads the averages as well (aside of a few who have played hardly any innings) Edited September 30, 2023 by globaldiver Quote
