I mentioned Vaibhav Sooryavanshi in a previous post. A 15 year old wonder kid! Well we have 17 year old Joe Moores. A great knock of 55 today. Showed up the experienced top order. Wasn’t enough though

  • On paper, the best batting line up we've had since Atherton, Crawley & Fairbrother, if not before.   On grass, absolute shite so far.

Aye, it was a good effort though

Aye.

When they were 109 for 2, I thought they were in with a chance.

Then checked again later, and it's 8!

Sir Jimmy still taking wickets too.

Another defeat......

Poor.

First innings really fucked the match up.

Not good enough.

Benkenstien gone. Ta-ra 👋

Just had a look- he's not exactly got a good record has he.

Similar (lack of) performance in his previous role.

His last interview wouldn't have helped his cause neither.

Winning or developing young talent; it shouldn't be a choice between or the other.

Im going to keep banging the drum that CC is shite

Looking at Lancs last game, not one of Anderson, Mahmood, Livingstone, Salt or Buttler played

Im not sure one or two of them have played red ball in a couple of years and im not claiming theyre world beaters, but we would be a better team with them

Its dogshit and only has a value if its to develop players

And even then young talent is generally only tested by has beens and never wasers

Theres not even a couple of windies quicks to make or break em

😊 Tight.

That catch on the penultimate ball was amazing

Double trouble. Went to see both the women and men get beat. Should have stayed home and listened to music.😉

Something has to give.

Was never a fan of the 100 given there already is T20.

Only so much money to go round.

I don't think the on field levels help neither.

Fact of the matter us that as much as the members bleat, the CC is unsustainable

Its second/third rate dross watched by a few owd duffers

Lancashire Cricket (to give it its preferred title) is in a healthy financial position due to other activities and events at the ground. Without the cricket, whatever its pulling power, the rest wouldn't exist.

I presume you did see the figures?

Suggests strongly, that two very short versions together aren't sustainable neither.

We know the CC won't yield loads of cash- doubtful it ever has- but the newer formats appear to be competing with each other rather than complementing each other.

The cricket side is also susceptible to the weather. A sell out Roses match cancelled due to the weather and an international one dayer also last year. Full refund and no rearrangement. That’s why it relies on revenue from other non cricketing events. It’s not like football.

Would they have had some insurance policy for the cancelled events?

I’m sure there is some form but nothing to cover the total cost. In past years, a Test badly affected by rain has had a significant impact on the clubs revenue. Unless things have changed, the ECB don’t lose out. The risk is with the county. The county guarantees a certain fee to the ECB for staging the match.

Meanwhile in county cricket, Lancashire have taken 6 wickets in 6 balls (over 2 T20 matches)

Stonking is that.

Didn't check the f.o.w. yesterday and hadn't realised that 4 consecutive wickets fell yesterday.

Roses Friday. 🌹

I was there on Sat v Derbyshire on a white sofa in Sportbreaks. Luckily the rain kept off for the mens. The Cruzcampo was shocking 🤢

I remember the announcer saying someone is going to Dubai if we get wicket with the first ball. Couple in the next stand won it.

Another beer adulterated by the big "brewers".

Pesh.
