Lampard

Say what you like about fat frank but he is a premiership legend. 240 odd goals from midfield, never got the plaudits he deserved IMO

In terms of best Premier midfielder, he's up there with Franck Passi for sure

saw his press conference yesterday

said hed had loads of offers to play on and the one that really tempted him was from us

he did alright, but aye,  I thought he may have had a few more national and international accolades

his trophy haul speaks for itself though

and he was better than Gerrard

Yup. He was class. Very few worked as hard on improving their game as he did.

I really have a blind spot with him . I would have Gerard every time over him and I can't stand that scouse git .

Gerard was always a dour miserable sod. Remember an interview once on motd. Lineker and co made reference to it. Great for Liverpool but not quite as dominant for England.

Lampard seems a decent fella and was a fine player too.

Smug bastard Lampard maybe that's why I don't rate him .

They were both very very good players. Probably not "world class" but put serious graft in.

Anyway, if he signed for us he probably keep his record facing us and bag two own goals a game, it's a no from me.

Bit like when folk mention cats people automatically try and tell you dogs are better.

Not really sure why we have to compare gerrard and lampard. Both fuckin outstanding and will be spoke about in 30-40 years time as football greats.

Lampard had everything I want in a footballer. The fittest player on every pitch by a country mile. He put the graft in day in day out to be the player that he was and earned everything he won.

Amazes me how people wank themselves silly over pricks like gazza and frank worthington that pissed away their careers and couldn't be arsed putting the hard yards in to make the best of what they have.

Paul scholes for me

Lampard was an excellent player. A goal rate strikers would of dined on. Trophy haul to back it up.

Didn't do it for England, well join the club. England aren't/weren't very good

You've let yourself down there.

Stick to discussing the size of away followings :)

29 in 106 not too bad either so probably did as well as he could in a generally under performing side

Talking about this in work yesterday and a lad was saying about the win lose record when gerrard and lampard played together as on paper it's very good

Had to point out the wins were probably all easy qualifiers and the losses were important games

Reasonable case to be made for 30 in 106 to be fair. Never thought of him as a flat track bully like some England players but no idea how his record stands up in big games. Probably as well as the rest of them

Fair point on individual performance for England. I didn't know them stats. My point was more that none will be remembered greatly as England men due to lack of tournament progression.

I used to think he was a poor man's Gerrard. Till he just kept showing me up. Likeable professional as well makes it a lot easier

The England thing is always harsh imo. We didn't even qualify for one tournament during his career.

Bet he didn't total up 20 tournament games in his career. Not his fault managers played him in the wrong position either.

Always thought he looked 'annoyingly good' when seen in the flesh.

Everyone turns to shit in an England kit

Have to agree with Radcliffe though in that Scholes is the best I've seen.

See I've never got the scholes love in. Good player yes. But always thought it was a bit of a myth and something people said to be edgy describing him as the best. Plus he's a red twat

I know what you mean but I'm basing it off games I've seen up close.  I thought Scholes' reading of the game and his 'nasty' side just gave him the edge - also a bit more of an all-rounder in that Lampard's overall defensive abilities, as a midfielder, weren't as good as Scholes' (not much of a tackler though ;) ).  Both good players though and I think there's a case for either of them, or Gerrard.

Can't remember if they got much England time together but I reckon Scholes & Lampard would/could have been a better midfield than Frank and Steevy G!

But yes, it pains me to chose a red.

Lampards performance in the 2nd half when they won the title at the reebok was something to behold.

Plus the shit house turned his back on England, when he was in his prime.

I'm not a fan I appreciate and share Gonzo's respect but if I had a tenner to watch a player I'd be choosing gazza over frank.

He was a good player in a good team when in a poorer team alla England he was average and nowhere near world class I hate stevie g but would have him every time

Gerrard did a good half when we drew 2-2 at home

Never seen a player run the show like he did that day
