Gibraltar.

Seems to be an hot topic on the news at the moment, should we hand it over to the Spanish or just defend it to the hilt and invade Benidorm ?

Storm in a tea cup if you ask me. I suspect this is the first of many article 50 issues that will arise in the next 2 years.

Neither for me. It will be one of many diplomatic posers coming up during all this.

A non issue. There is no way we will ever budge on strategic Gibraltar and they all know it.

Cuntish of Tusk to even raise it but they had to counter our defence comment in the letter as they are shit scared of what might happen if we aren't there to defend them.

He who controls Gibraltar controls the Med. In these times of sabre rattling by Russia and to a lesser extent, China, would you want a proven elite, professional and formidable military force being stationed there or a bunch of sun worshippers with 3 pop guns and a pea shooter?

Interesting that the dago's have immediately held out the olive branch to those treacherous bastards north of Hadrians Wall. All a political game which will come to nought.

Good to see you the other week at Shrewsbury, Mick .

All the best

Uncle Northy

Personally I'd get rid if we could . It's an embarrassing reminder of our colonial days and strategically it means nowt to us now.

Top day out mate, great to see so many old lads.

Young northy was interviewed on thogdens Fleetwood vid

Correct. It would be absolute fucking madness. Strategically means nothing? Only control of the gateway to the Med.

Irrespective of its absolutely massive strategic value, the very fact that 99% of its population are steadfast in their determination to remain British, only a duck egg would suggest parting with it.

Embarrassing colonial past? WTF!!!!????

I remember having a camera shoved in my face..

I'd keep it due to the fact the people want to stay. The talk of going to war has been embarrasing though. What's not been politics wise lately though?

One comment from Michael Howard designed only to let the EU know that they are pissing in the wind even contemplating this.

Nah, not embarrassing. Just jockeying for position.

Jockeying for position?? We're supposed to be a civilised country not some dickhead down the pub saying I'll knock you out.

Why is the Med strategically important to a nation 1,000 miles north of it?

Good point.

I was wondering if King Spaniel was planning to send another wooden armada to biff our queen.

Must admit when I heard Howard's comments, I thought it's something Mounts would come out with

96% of it's population voted to Remain in the EU too, but let's not talk about that.

What can we control the med with? We've barely an armed force of our own left and couldn't or wouldn't do anything without the US anyway. Strategically it was important for us donkeys years ago when we were in the habit of planting flags on stuff and claiming it as our own but not these days.

I do agree with the population issue. Not sure how we'd sell it to them but they could always relocate in blighty if they don't want to become Spaniards

Back in the day, didn't we veto Spain joining the EU unless they opened up their border with Gibraltar, and allowed the residents to commute across with ease, as I understand a lot do for work. All that will happen is that when we leave, the Spanish can "close" the border and make it more awkward for the residents of Gibraltar to cross on a daily basis   -  I don't know what this would or wouldn't do for the economy of Gibraltar.

Anyway, nothing will be happening for a couple of years yet, so we don't really need to fret, and I'm sure that an amicable solution will be found. This will just be the first of many ridiculous things to come out in the next 2 years

No matter what you think, Howards' comments, just days after Article 50 was triggered won't have been particularly helpful I wouldn't have thought

Be afraid, the Tory back benchers are on the loose!

I had a mild panic when I first read that.

No one has said anything about the territory. The Spanish have come out today and said, 'calm down, dear'

Can we not just let the Spaniards have 2.6 square miles of mainland Britain in return? Keep the status quo.

Would they be happy with Blackrod?
