they've never been "chipped" as such.

they're open to installing any app you like on them as long as you turn on developer options and allow apps from unknown sources.

👍

Ok developer app and that? Used to put kodi on stuff, would like a service

there are mainstream apps that you can use, most servers have their own apps to use though, mainly for security reasons, they require only username and pass rather than a full server address. a lot of servers will not give out their full server address.

on the original subject of the thread a lot of suppliers no longer support mags, they are linked by mac address which can easily be hacked and duplicated if you know what to do.

You have mail.

I also want to talk to someone about this. I currently subscribe to SkySports but it’s expensive as fuck and also doesn’t show Bolton games often enough.

I’d need a home visit to help with the set up, I really am a technophobe and my wife is 3 O Levels worse than me.

How do you find out where stuff is on? Wife watches a lot of niche sports; netball, etc. which would be on Sky but how do I find out where it’ll be on on a fire stick? Is there a dedicated shortcut to SkySports?

I intend keeping SkyQ basic pack so not getting rid of everything.

As is mine and Casino's ... but it'll never be as good as the actual real thing

... but it's also a tiny fraction of the cost.

Yep, I've been with them for approaching 3 years now.

With a good fast internet connection, it is hard to see much of a difference at all with Lambs server.

10/10

Same with the one I use (sorry, it's not Lambs) for £50 a year it's fantastic.

'for 50 a year, its fantastic'

and there we have it

50 quid, against 1200

course its good deal

mines worth 30 quid or whatever if i watch half a dozen ifollows

thats not my issue

its not sky hd, so itll never take its place - for me anyroad

You get far more on the dodgy than what you'll get from sky

I still have full Sky Sports and BT/TNT Sports as well 😃......as well as a Netflix account and Amazon Prime

My stick does have most of the sports channels in FHD and UHD as well, which are always excellent quality- I generally, in reality, only use it for PPV things, and Bolton matches, which obviously aren't on any of those platforms. And sometimes if I'm travelling for a few days, I'll take it with me so I can stick it in the Hotel TVs and watch what I want.

It's worth my £40 per year just for the porn.

Stay at home, pay us

you must have eyes like a sh1thouse rat 😁

the framerate on some of the FHD streams available run at 60FPS

UK satellite broadcast a maximum framerate of 50FPS, no UK satellite provider does 50FPS

these streams are certainly comparable to what UK satellite can provide but do require decent internet to ensure a faultless stream. Simply saying "i have 200mb internet" is not enough. If you are aware of jitter, ping and packet loss they all play a part in how well your streams run.

For those quoting prices the following applies -

As for how much you pay that's entirely up to you, there are many out there who will sell you a service that gives them enough profit per year to buy a pint, there are also others who care about the service they provide and charge a little more for their time and effort sorting out issues.

If i had a £ for the amount of people who use "perfect" servers i'd be a rich man 😁

Perfect servers simply do not exist. When you can control the data centre your servers are hosted on, the internet infrastructure of each country en route to the device you are using, the UK communications network and the weather and guarantee that all of them are perfect 100% of the time, then and only then can you get anywhere close to having a perfect server. You also have to make sure that all of your hardware never breaks down and the electricity supply of every country on the route is faultless.

What makes one server better than another is generally the developers, coders and stream suppliers they use plus the ease of contact when things go awry and they can with any server.

Good luck to everyone this coming season whoever you use, what i will tell you that most won't is that this season may well be one of the most challenging in terms of supplying a decent service 👍

So, what's the best medium for running your service?

Fire stick?
