the 'home and student' version is 105-ish and iirc is the same but doesnt include outlook (or access).

 

he could use LibreOffice or summat for now , that is free , bit strange if youre really , really , used to msoffice, but it's alright.

I use open office on my laptop. Not quite as good as the real McCoy but passable. Doesn't sort images in spreadsheets though if you need to do that.

A powerpoint format was all over the place and I couldn't figure out how to create a table in excel within 10 seconds so decided I would pay for what I'm used to

til you get that sorted .. try libreoffice , it is updated more than previously mentioned openoffice .. so i'm guessing has less typesetting errors and bugs and stuff.

I had something similar when I worked at the uni. Got a legit version for home use.

Using the word "either" gives the impression you feel firemen; or public services generally, get tax free perks not available to private sector workers. If you'd like to point out your researched findings then go ahead, point them out to me.

 

The only tax break I ever got was a nationwide effort to acknowledge that a certain type of laundry soap was required so washing didn't get rid of the fire retardancy of personal issue uniform which was worn when I entered the buildings which normal folk would be running out of. (couldn't be detergent for some reason) Sorry for wanting the best chance to survive the kind of temperatures you'd normally cook a chicken in. Because it had to be a certain kind of soap, the tax office acknowledged this by was of a few points being added to my tax free allowance.

 

Strange thing is, even in the private sector, there is a tax benefit to be had if you wear a company provided uniform for work and have to launder it yourself. But of course, if you don't wear a uniform but need to provide a business suit which you'll wear for work, this could also bring a tax break, but you'll probably know that. You don't hear me bleating like a baby about business men getting tax breaks for clothing that I can't get.

 

So go on, Casino, what is your issue with my work and my tax?
