Now we have seen the demise of walk on girls at the darts and F1 is looking at ditching grid girls, is it safe to assume that the loss of such jobs will continue throughout sport (Tour de France must be next? NFL cheerleaders?)?

 

I wonder when the dawn of realisation will hit the zealots behind this that they are actually depriving females opportunities of work in jobs which many actually like and enjoy? I thought the interests of women were their primary concern? Is this more a case of ordinary lookers finally having the chance to strike back at those 'lucky bitches' who have the looks and figure to get such employment?

Folk make some good points re. body image and how showing such girls can have negative effects; I know someone whose teenage daughter has anorexia and seeing them both suffer through it is horrid.

 

That said, not showing images of beautiful women or using them in said ways isn't going to make one shred of difference.

I reckon they hit the jackpot - and they know it!  Same with NFL cheerleaders (I'm no expert but they are clearly very athletic and have gymnastic ability; not just big tatted bimbos)

I do have a daughter, and she can do what she wants with her life. When she's an adult, I wouldn't stop her (how could I?), but I'd definitely feel uncomfortable if somebody offered her money to wear specific clothes and parade around for the gratification of creepy men at the darts.

I go to the darts. The women are nice enough but they are fully clothed and to be honest are an irrelevance. You see more flesh on any given night in town.
