Peru

Has anybody ever been? Thinking of going in June. Fly to Lima - fly over Nazca lines - visit Machu Picchu - watch a few of the world cup games with the locals.

Never been to South America but flights are reasonable and it's cheap as chips over there. Can anyone help?

No. But sounds decent

Looked at it a few times, never been but friends have, meant to be amazing

Sorry I can’t be of help, however enjoy

I'd love to go

I'd love to go

£470 direct to Lima from London - decent that for a 13 hour flight!

Been to a few places in south America, all of which I loved, but never made it there. Please report back with your findings.

EG and Kill Cricket may have done

If she doesn't reply I'll give her a nudge

Mates went a couple of years ago.

Machu Picchu was amazing apparently.

Then into Lima to recuperate where the local delicacies were very keenly priced and they had an absolute ball and then had a week at home to recover

It’s like any South American country in that you need to keep your wits about you but it’s very beautiful and very hospitable if you keep to the beaten tracks.

I’ve done Argentina and chile so far and Peru and Columbia are high on the list of next places.

If you need anymore info let me know and I shall ask the lads for some input

Have you been? How did you get from Cusco to Machu Picchu? I can't be arsed with the Inca Trail - apparently there's a train?

Didn't Paddington Bear come from Peru?

Yea, went there in 2005. Would recommend the train. Super slow but nice ambience and scenic. Would also recommend spending a night in Machu Picchu village.

Do the hike up Wayna Picchu (the mountain directly overlooking it), takes about an hour.

my mums been, she ate a guinea pig......tastes like chicken!

Lad I worked with went once to take in the south American international football tournament.

He loved it.

Told a tale of a bus trip out in the wilds- the bus got a puncture and whilst waiting a load of local tribesmen with Spears etc appeared.

He was a bit concerned until one of his party spoke to them and it transpired that they were on their way to the match, in a day or twos time!

This was the best part of thirty years ago mind, so stuff may be a bit different.
