Mental Health/Depression

For those that questioned why I didn’t attend the game last Saturday, this was why. My daughter asked me to go to the Pride parade with her, have a few drinks, a meal, and generally have a catch up on her life and her website project. She doesn’t live with me so I don’t see her that often so face to face time is very valuable

I’ve highlighted one particular part of her social media post from today. That is a nod to WWays. She was stunned by the response from here. I thank all of you that contributed feedback once again for your support.......

As some of you may remember, a year ago I set up a website that allows people to submit and share their personal stories regarding mental health, encouraging people to use their voice and realise that they're not going through this alone.

The response I received was absolutely insane. That insane in fact, that I shut it down after a few months as I couldn't cope with managing the website alongside my own mental health.

But now I'm back 💥 I'm in a better place with my mental health, I'm currently in the process of purchasing my first home, and next week I start my dream job as a Teaching Assistant in a special educational needs school.

So I've decided to relaunch my project. A website where you can anonymously submit your mental health story, in the form of poetry, short stories, song lyrics, or simply anything that expresses you.

Read all 46 pages of this thread last night.  Rang doctors first thing this morning, and got GP appointment.  Now hooked up with referral to a couple of support services.  You don't know me, but

Father in law passed away last night.

Not unexpected, but hurts all the same.

Sleep gone out of the window, and that black dog barked in the distance overnight.

Grieving and staying strong for the family are uneasy bedfellows.

At least the purple cauliflowers turned out nice again this year. )

Sorry to hear your news.

My close pal passed this morning... he was on a constant ketamine syringe drive and just stopped breathing, I was only arguing with the bugger (as usual) on Monday.

I know what you mean about grieving and organising stuff... I drove to Heathrow with no notice yesterday to collect his sister so she could be there for him.

I'll grieve eventually when I have time

Sorry or your loss Dimron, you were clearly very good mates.

Kinell, it's as bad as the celebrity thread! )

Life certainly knows when to kick you up the arse.

From the white wall to this in a few weeks.

Sorry to hear that. Know what you mean about grieving yourself v staying strong. I did a lot of that when my dad went, then lost it one night about 9 months later when I'd to present a bowls trophy in his name.

Thanks be to the cauliflowers 😊

We were chalk and cheese in a lot of ways, particularly regarding politics but we rubbed along for over 40 odd years somehow... sound familiar lads?

He tells me he's left me his fishing tackle, I'm going to have to learn how to fish now😁

it's not a long walk and kettles always ready, even got a fancy new coffee machine if you ever want to call round for a brew.

Aye. Highs and lows on here recently but no better place to express them

Thanks everyone for all the messages. It does mean a lot.

As for fishing, I intend to step it up now- I recently had to give up my work- so perhaps a visit to Whitby or Lincolnshire for a break might be on the cards! 😀

That'll be fun... I need a new sparring partner 😄

I've been off the site for a while, so I'm just catching up.

Sorry for your losses, chaps.

Sorry for your loss chaps. x

Found out my mum has skin cancer on Thursday night.

Got a call on Friday morning saying one of my staff had handed her notice in and has no intention of serving said notice, so I’ve put her on Gardening leave and we’ve got someone off sick going to peak season

away from Friday til today with the kids on a nice city break. Thoroughly enjoying it, then I got this feeling in my gut. Like butterflies and thought the world was ending. A proper black cloud. I’ve had it numerous times as I’ve suffered with bouts of depression my whole life.

I don’t if it’s the realisation of what’s ahead of me for the next couple of weeks, or something more sinister, but I just feel a bit fucking scared of myself.

Only needs an unwelcome intervention, out of the blue, to kick it off.

Do you take any medication to help?

Ever had taking therapy of any sort?

No to both tbh. It’s always been something that passes relatively quickly, but perhaps professional help would be a wise move. As I’m getting older and less active, I’m sure it will become more prevalent so it’s probably a good time to start

Deffo sounds like a triggered bout of anxiety/depression mate.

At least you know what's triggered it and sometimes it's easier knowing what's caused it.

Get out for a big fuck off long walk up a massive hill or beach.

Don't be fucking about if you think it's more sinister and need the doctors.

Keep on going pal x

I try to "pigeon hole" everything... makes it all more manageable.

Staff... notice.... gardening leave... sod her... job done, what else can you do?

Mum.. skin cancer... what sort of cancer? I've had a "skin cancer", something called Bowens Disease and it was treated very easily, cancer diagnosis is long term so no reason to rush back from hoilday.

Park it all until Friday, concentrate on the kids and get stuck in when you return is my advice

Basal cell carcinoma is very treatable. Melanoma is more serious.

Had my first routine skin check done here and no concerns thankfully.

Best of luck to your Mum, @boltonboris

Yep ha
