Staying Up - what are the chances?

After last nights performance, do you think we've got any chance of staying up?

50 points usually does it in a 46 game season.

So, possibly 47 or 48 will do it this time.

that means we need to win at least 56 points, maybe 59 with another penalty looming.

with only 34 games left, there's 102 points left to play for.

  • I think without Buckley and Bridcutt out for a lengthy period we could have had a squeak as we look solid and will get better.  But just beyond us now but I would love to be proven wrong

Yeh that's where i'm at. Sow some seeds this season, then a fresh start next term with a proper pre season behind us and some fresh faces - the rebirth of BWFC will start properly next season imo.

  • Hopefully we have a goalscorer, otherwise we are in deep doodoo.

From Bolton news today ... Thursday Cancelled.

An independent panel will decide Wanderers’ fate, the identity of which is also a great unknown. What has come to light is the panel was meant to meet this Thursday but a clash with a pre-existing EFL board meeting meant that another date had to be sought, as both parties need to be present.

What a load of shit that is that still can't decide what punishments they are going to give us "due to another pre existing EFL board meeting". Wonder what they are talking about in that how incompetent they all fucking are, so it's took literally 5 month's since the Brentford game to arrange a meeting but then it's still not going ahead because they can't arrange meetings properly!

Well hopefully be in positive points so it'll make it easy to further punish us. I reckon if we we're still minus 8 or 9 points they'd have decided the first points docking was enough.

Think some of said this if they was to give us a point deduction wouldn't this be a discouragement to future owners willing to save clubs from there previous misfortunes, bet they haven't though of that? Think MP's hammering the EFL in regards to Bury has helped them take more time in making are decision.

3 point penalty, with a further 3 points suspended, a fine, and the Donny match re-arranged is the best we could hope for IMO.

Anyone who thinks that FV don’t know what the sanctions are and what they were going to be is crackers. You don’t buy a business without knowing what sanctions are coming. Fact

I'm not sure that they know exactly what the punishment is going to be, although they may know what the possible extremes are. The EFL board have have a recent history of investigating the circumstances, and deciding on only a financial punishment in the recent case of Liverpool fielding an illegible player, so there is a chance that we may get away with the same in the Doncaster match case, if there is enough evidence to show that playing the match would have broken the EFL's own guidance re the welfare of young players.

You are correct that it will be maximum That will have been understood

sanctions so worse case scenario (footballs equivalent of operation yellow hammer)

our recent form has given the efl a problem though as they never expected us to have a chance of staying up I suspect so it would have been irrelevant but now they’ve got a tough choice

Normally, I'd agree

But the words sol, andrew and chips on shoulders make me think, maybe not

I would have agreed a year ago, but I was very impressed with him at Macc, did a great job, and he seems to have left them a top half team rather than rock bottom.  Hearing him talk, he's genuinely enthusiastic and into being amongst footballers and coaching etc.  I'd take his positivity over Parky or Dougie any day.  Will be interesting to see how he does at Southend.

Played well just before his injury, granted he was playing centrally. Not impressed with the stoke lad to be honest, Little end product and doesn’t track back and lightweight.

Agreed on Verlinden.  After that goal at Rotherham (arguably 1 of the stand out moments for our club in recent years) he's not done a lot except running rings round the Sunderland left back.  But Buckley has a lot to do to to be an improvement on anyone, he was so bad at times last season, lightweight sums him up perfectly.

Do you not think he'd be better on the right?

He all to often has to stop and check back onto his right foot, which loses some of the impetus of his pace.

Hill has his own ideas I suppose.

It would be foolish to take Dodoo off the right side, him an Emmanuel are playing superb on our right side.

Can't argue with that.

I think we can all hazard a reasonable guess and FV will have done the same

-12points worst case (-6 points per game), -6 points best case (-3 points per game)

Question mark over replaying the Donny game or not

I wonder if the culture committee comments may be helpful

I think they are bollocks but could be well timed

And again, FV know whats coming

Theyll have negotiated something acceotable during the sale process

Is that even allowed? I’m sure they need to use external committees for this sort of thing to take the decision out of their hands

I’m not convinced that they can just cut deals for this sort of disciplinary procedure

Not officially I guess, but if FV the "only show in town" that's your possible leverage for FV.

I think what's madking this situation even harder for the EFL is the Bury debacle.

If they give us another 6 pointer, the shit storm it would (hopefully) create (or be created) would put the spotlight on their poor handling and management of another club.

I hate to put it in this context, because the Bury situation is terrible, but think we will actually benefit from it. They have left a decision making process far to long for it now to be a fair judgement against our current owners and situation. I think that if the punishment was 6 points, there would also be a legal challenge too.

All my own muddled thoughts I might add.

They can choose to suspend points too, they did it with Blackpool in 2015 when a pitch invasion/fan demonstration caused the match v Huddersfield to  be abandoned. I'm clinging onto the hope that they'll be similarly lenient with the Doncaster punishment, and just make us pay for any  costs incurred by Doncaster.

Far more moaning going on from other teams near us, now we’re picking up points.
fuck em
