Pfft. What kind of Boltoner doesn't like black peas?

Spot on.

My other half is from Durham, i've introduced her to lots of our local food and she loves them all - esp black peas. We get them sent from my mum and dad and have them every bonfire night.

I don't trust anyone from Bolton who doesn't like black peas, tater hash or a pastie barm. Its just not normal.

They just taste of "bland" unless you douse them in vinegar, and then they taste of vinegary blandness. They're not for me to be honest.

Other than bonfire night from a stall, does anybody actually make them themselves at home?

Dunns River do tins of Gungo Peas in the world aisle that I buy now and then to make vegetarian stuff and they are similar to black peas.

In takeaway news me and one of the kids got a Toby Carvery delivered at weekend, is that acceptable or is that sinking to a new low ?

I reckon we have about 3 x 1kg bags in kitchen cupboards.  They pretty much become available seasonally so we get a few in

You could have stopped writing after Toby Carvery and then asked if you were stooping too low.

A good bread pudding with vanilla custard and cinnamon is a thing of beauty.

I fear your youth is the issue with your lack of understanding good quality local food and you are unaware of how tasty these things can be cooked well.

I know we’ve been here before

But as a reminder, if it needs dousing in vinegar, and has the consistency of a weeping skin infection, it’s not fit for human consumption.
