It's more that you haven't recognised how there's more to it than random acts of kindness.

Yes the world is fucked & unsafe for many people. Doesn't mean we can't attempt to change it. Mrs. Esco is very lucky to have you come and collect her in your horse & carriage whenever she needs.

Why should other women need a man to feel safe?

How the fuck do you stop It? Let me tell You the only way it stops is eradicate the threat that they might get attacked. Let’s be honest that is it. How do we do that? We can’t. Simple.

You’re not going to stop pissed up jack from my local boozer mithering women on his way home. Hes harmless btw. But mithers the fuck out of women and probably makes them feel scared and uneasy at times . He’s been told  on a number of occasions and Smacked by a couple of folk for doing it and not stopping.

but Facebook vigil is going to stop him? Educate him?

he’s no danger to anyone. Can’t even speak half the time.  He’s not a weirdo. Just an over friendly piss head.

Trust me mate. From the stories I've heard, pissed up Jack is an angel. Most female mates are fine dealing with the likes of him.

Cracking campaign in Bristol years ago where people took to the streets after women were being groped & abused in nightclubs. Bouncers have since been much more vigilant & supportive.

Nobody is asking or expecting a fucking Eutopia. Small differences over time & more understanding does improve things.

But if folk want to go on a pointless moral crusade then that’s fine. If by some act of magic it stop Summat happening or someone thinking about their actions then it can’t be a bad thing

but the problem And the real Reason women are scared is because of the crimes committed by the weirdos. Which can’t be stopped. So they will never feelsafe. Sadly.but it’s the world we live in and it’s terrible truly terrible. World is fucked.

and to be fair at least this is prompted by something on our shores and not thousands of miles away. That’s one positive if there is one to be taken

Again the way to stop that is punitive action against the places that it’s happening.  If they don’t stop it and take accountability for making patrons safe then they don’t open.

Ok some ways that have highlighted today which can help change the situation. Giving space, crossing the road, not blocking walkways or paths.

There are loads of ways that can improve and help the situation - have a look.

As LW put it, its about much more than just the lone attacker.

But the real Reason they are so scared is because of the lone attacker. Surely you must see that. If the lone attacker didn’t exist what is there to be sacred of?

You want to take punative action against pavements?

Read above. Blimey this is hard.

Ever seen a lone woman on a train getting verbal abuse? Is that not scary for the victim?

Ever seen a women have to push past a group of men to get into a shop?

Intimitation is scary, its not just about knife welding murderers. And no one should feel unsafe on our streets.

Exactly mate. & raising awareness to an issue is often done when people come together. Can often trigger the debate in parliament & need for legislation.

Like the Bristol campaign I just talked about just now.

Could list loads more that have genuinely made a difference if you wanted. But I'm sure you get the picture.

It seems your argument is that anyone raising awareness to an issue is under the impression that the culprits will take a hard look at themselves & stop. Nobody thinks that. It's about raising awareness then gaining support.

Glad we got there in the end 👍 Cooking dinner now but I'll bring you a candle to Mussleburgh later. Promise I won't flirt with your Mrs. 😁

Listen, if you want to snigger and eye roll at people wanting something done about problem that needs addressing that's totally your perogative.

As I say, its probably best to leave it at that.

I’m all for doing something. But I can’t see what. But let’s leave it there.

Good luck getting a bunch of blokes to cross the road because there’s a woman walking down on the same side.

I've been in the car about 4 hours today

Pretty sure there was a claim that 95% of women have been sexually assaulted

I'm interested to see the definition being used

Just have a read of that back.

Fucking 'ell.

People are right that a vigil won't stop a nutter being a nutter, nothing will.

So if we can not do anything about the nutters is that strange to try and educate decent folk so they behave in a slightly different way ? Cross over rather than follow a woman down the street ? Or change attitudes so a woman getting punched in the street is not ignored by the Police as 'just a domestic ?'

Everyone seems to see there is a problem so why not try and do something to tackle the problem ?

I thank you. I didn't think it was that difficult a concept to grasp.

If you are part of that group and one of them starts hassling the woman do you say anything to him to stop ?

Of the top of my head I can think of 3 times in different ways (I'm sure theres more) Most women I know have also been sexually assaulted in one way or another. It's so so wrong.
