Things like human rights etc- perhaps it needs the curriculum making pertinent if that's what is wanted. Not sure where the boundary between basic manners and decency learned within the home, and learned within school is anymore. In general basic standards of behaviour are lower.

My dad never sat me down and had a big chat but he always dealt with people honestly and fairly (to the point he got screwed over a few times) and that is the example I follow. However, in light of this mass soul searching, if folk want a change, its got to come throughout society. However, judging from general behaviour, this sort of thing isn't happening at home. So what do we do? Respect and decency should be ingrained at home, but if not, school seems the only other way. Interestingly, I see a lot of the people clamouring for change are fairly young and have come through the current education system and are part of the social media culture, which also doesn't help in this regard.
