Phone upgrade

I'm due a phone upgrade. Always been a iPhone wanker but last phone I got (current) huawei p30pro. Hated it at first now love it. Don't know wether to go back to apple or stick with android. What do all the cool kids do these days?

Just had to buy new phone as had to hand back work phone which was iphone 8. Got new iphone 13. Compared to 8 it’s miles better but prob not a revelation to those who change frequently.
biggest gripe dealing with the cretins at EE shop to add new phone to family EE contract.

Some of the 120hz Android phones look really nice and way cheaper than iPhone wankers.

The 8 was the best phone I’ve had since the Nokia 3310. Really didn’t need to upgrade but I did

If so many folk didn't upgrade so frequently, would it free up chips for companies like yours for other applications?

That sounds like a good idea.

I've blown em. Thought I was replying to Sweep!

If he's lurking, the question still stands.

As it is, I'm not sure Pep gives a fuck.😁

Bet it looks like an iPad in your hand.

Two words to actually put me to sleep.

Does email, does apps I need, doesn't cost more than 30 quid a month? That's fine.

Have no interest whatsoever.

I buy phones 2nd hand as I kill them or lose them at a rate of 2-3 per year...

On Giffgaff Golden Goodybag.

£10 a month.

10gb Data.

Unlimited calls texts.

Plus always a few spare SIMs in the drawer to get immediately back in the picture if I lose it (phone).

If I break one, I'll get another then I fix it mesen (the broke one) - if I balls it up nowt lost, quite adept at it now - so I have three phones now...

Riveting eh?

It would certainly help, but you'll never stop people wanting to upgrade, sadly. The tech inside handsets is ridiculous, and the average person probably only uses about 5% of it

You're not wrong there. Marketing/advertising aimed at younger people generally, almost like a fashion item now.

Are chips recycled/re-used from old phones?

I don't think they recycle the chips, as you don't know what "life" they've had, so they can't be put into anything that might be deemed as critical, many are also designed specifically for the handset they're in, so don't have much of a use in the outside world, plus the removal would be a ball ache. I'm sure some parts can be recovered and recycled, but the ICs I wouldn't have thought so.

It is a fashion item, been like that for a long time. Thankfully I'm the right side of the digital divide to not be judged.

Although they do laugh at my flip case 'dad cover'

Bores me shitless, phones. But, I agree about cases and screen protection - I drop my phone several times a day because I’m a proper dick, and I know I’ve cost the business a fortune repairing or replacing my phone.

From what I can tell, the only way Apple and Samsung are able to “improve” newer models is to make the camera more advanced.

it’s the only thing they rattle on about in the adverts anyway.

So folk can send more detailed dick picks to each other.

I'd suggest for most on here, that's no great benefit.

Screen protector and cover also help when you launch the phone down the street when the fucker keeps ringing all day and night
