Youri McAnespie Posted September 29, 2021 Author Posted September 29, 2021 (edited) They work in the city centre and are considering Walkden/Worsley (they ain't from these parts). They have cloth ears when I say "so near, yet so far..." regarding getting to and from work. They've lived in an apartment near Angel Meadows for three years (after moving from Sticksy Village, Stixton, Cumbria) so obviously know more about Manchester than someone who's spent thirty odd years in and around the place... Spider Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 I’ve been doing some work up in Harpurhey. Rest assured that’s not likely to appear on any hipster radars anytime soon. Quote

Perhaps I was toughened up by four years on The Paulhan Street Estate from 21ish on - more dealers per hectare than anywhere on earth and when folk wanted to move they simply set fire to their (council) house... I saw two blokes in their mid 30’s riding around on BMX’s there the other day, clearly eyeballing houses and cars for later. There was a fight going on outside a kebab shop at 2 in the afternoon and my trip to the Asda there was somewhere between fascinating and terrifying. Im told the McDonald’s down towards Miles Platting has security detectors like at the airport. Quote

Bolton has plenty of room to build scores of low rise, simple accommodation for the thousands of workshy bums that Manchester will be keen to drop. Bradshawgate will be alive once more. It’s Saturday night pavements glistening with the blood of unconscious revellers, mixing with the saturated fats of a thousand dropped pieces of donner meat. Edited September 29, 2021 by Spider Quote

Youri McAnespie Posted September 29, 2021 Author Posted September 29, 2021 (edited) And 2.5 miles from the property I'm asking about... If I was asking about Harwood, Turton or Bromley X a run-down on Hall 'Ith Wood or Withins wouldn't really help... I've heard Middle-East Baltimore is a shithole. Not buying owt there either. Youri McAnespie Posted September 29, 2021 Author Posted September 29, 2021 These young folk - shit for brains. They think anywhere with an M postcode is an easy commute into the city. There's a house in Ashton, ten minutes walk from Stalybridge Station (trains every 15 minutes to City Centre) massive garden, three bedrooms - £140,000. Miles aways but quicker and easier commute than many, many places that look a stones throw away on the map they're considering at £175k+ it's fucking mental. Noticed apartments are seemingly going down the plughole pricewise, oversaturated market? Quote
MancWanderer Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 Go to The Fort retail park and observe Costa Seats outside occupied all day by some lovely folk drinking coffee, smoking the most revolting smelling cigs ever and glued to their mobiles. All the owners of the businesses down near Strangeways. Just far enough away from any mither whilst the deals are done The Greggs there does a roaring trade btw Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted September 29, 2021 Author Posted September 29, 2021 They don't want much for their £180k max budget... * 'Move straight in' condition. * Back garden. * No direct on street terraces. * Min two big bedrooms. * No even slightly dodgy areas within three miles. * Easy, reliable and short commute into City Centre. * Good local schools. Etc. I hope it keeps fine for them... Quote

About a quarter further on than a house on Green Lane that sold for £285k recently is from the former Prince Rupert Pub on The 'Concrete' Estate. Which everyone knows was almost Bloomsbury Set-esque... Quote
Ghana White Posted September 29, 2021 Posted September 29, 2021 Does the bloke pissed out of his head still pretend to be a parking attendent outside harphurhey asda at dinner, used to love seeing him guiding cars in to spaces Quote
Youri McAnespie Posted September 29, 2021 Author Posted September 29, 2021 THOSE DRIVERS APPRECIATED THE ADVICE AND GUIDANCE! My nephew get door to door in forty minutes (Bromley X - Station - Salford Central - Office just after Albert Bridge)... I'd find it piss funny if his cousin gets this house with an all important 'M' postcode and it takes them about an hour or more... Which is looking highly likely. Quote

There is nothing to recommend Ashton despite the tram links Stalyvegas? If I was early 20's and could get somewhere on the outskirts. Maybe Harpurhey. Fucking love that place. 10 minutes down the road. It really is a place to visit. The "shit market" (as opposed to Harpuhey market) on a saturday used to be a revelation.
