  • And as for this tiresome bollocks about pathways in our last two tournaments, do people not realise theres a reason we got those pathways? We avoided groups of death becasue we won every single game i

  • Fuck me we lose one game without a full strength team against a team of shit houses who shithoused themselves half way through the last tournament and the knives are out. It was just one of them

  • Biggest cheers tonight were for the paper planes hitting the pitch. I’ve also learned that being close to Wembley as the crow flies means fuck all when it comes to the tube!   Anyway, 9th/10

Agree with all of that apart from “tremendous manager”.

I think he was a very good man manager. He’s clearly got very good people skills and can lead - for the most part that’s what international football is about, pulling together a squad from different teams and getting them to gel.

What he’s not very good at is managing a football game. Setting up in a WC semi final against Croatia with a midfield 3 of Henderson, Lingard and Alli showed you all you need to know about his tactical nouse. It’s why he’s never done anything as a club manager.

I don’t agree with Bolty that the virtue signalling had anything to do with it. I do agree with Bolty that we now have a manager that given the same situation (ie latter stages of a tournament) would have a better chance of getting us over the line.

I’d still rather see Bolton win L1 than England win the World Cup though 👀

Same was said about Capello

That went well

And he banned condiments!

How can you take a man seriously that doesn't allow HP sauce?

If you will be in redneck territory by then, you will get them two hours earlier than I do as far as your time pieces are concerned.

Obviously there are significant time zones across the US too so it depends where the games are being played. ATM Perth is currently 13 hours ahead of, say, New York so Brisbane will be 15 hours ahead. I presume they will play plenty of games later in the day at that time of year so a 7.30pm kick off would be around a 9.30am KO for you allowing for Queensland winter clock change which WA doesn't do.

Any afternoon games will likely be at sparrow fart. I recall watching games before I went to work during USA94.

Absolutely no comparison as well you know.

A Latin temperament was never going to fit. Now, one of our own Saxons..................

Aussie RL and AFL fans refer to that TV station as Soccer Bloody Soccer as I am sure you know.

For those who don't know, it is the 'ethnic' channel.

Some younger fella turned up to our office in a Liverpool shirt. Sometimes you have to swallow your pride, have a chat and accept he's into real football at least.

Anyway his Dad is a fan blah blah but I mentioned the Soccer Bloody Soccer thing to him and he hadn't a clue. Might be a thing of the past.

Maybe although the Aussies opposite and next door to me only used the term last Sunday at our regular Sunday session. Two mad keen AFL types who have commented many times on their concern over the growth of 'soccer' over here. They were chatting about coverage of the 2026WC. One of their sons has become an Arsenal fan (couple of years ago he started). Mother has relatives in North London. Father not impressed :D

Might even be a regional thing although our HQ in Sydney had a couple who used the term (Parramatta Eels and Penrith Panthers fans btw).

To be honest I don't think football will ever take off here. They'll have to get used to not winning and Aussies don't like that.

Greatest AFL country in the world, I'll give them that.

Peak Socceroos was 2006, they had a decent team back then.

I wonder how long before they adopt the US tactic of calling the winners 'World Champions'?

As I regularly point out to my two neighbours (great blokes by the way), a game played in only two thirds of one country compared to one played in 211 countries all stemming from Bolton Wanderers and 11 also rans.

Heard it called 'Sex and Bloody Soccer' when I first arrived due to the arty European films it would show later at night.

Hadn't heard it but understand why! Saw one which showed a bloke from a 45 degree angle from behind apparently pissing into a womans mouth and another where a woman was squeezing a tit and squirting milk into a teenage lads gob. Some of these Bulgarian, Slovenian, Moldovan, Armenian etc. movies are pretty fucking odd. The novelty wore off very quickly!

Sounds like @gonzoTV

He wouldn't want to be associated with anything so vanilla

Striker situation should the worst happen to Kane

Mason Greenwood currently top scorer in France.

Thoughts?

He looked good last night mate.

Was coming in off the flank with Aubamyang up top.

He shouldn't be ignored but there's a massive queue infront of him for those forward positions.

He's better than Bowen&Gordon for starters.

He's head & shoulders above a load in that squad tbf, should be in the squad if we're going off form
