Every new manager hasn't taken us to a tournament.

Every manager seems to have us qualifying for major tournaments readily too.

Perhaps they feel he is continuing some of the good work initiated by Southgate, and maybe taking it to the next level.

Anybody can get us to qualify for a tournament. Where our managers are judged are in the tournament proper. 

If we fail to get out of the group having played negative shite would anyone be happy to give him another go?

I can only assume there is talk of extending his contract due to the Spurs and Man U jobs being up for grabs.

what's the point in giving him a new one now

if Utd or Spurs or whoever are sniffing around, they can wait till after the World Cup

and if he wants to go he can, regardless of how well we do 

sounds to me like either the FA have panicked for no reason or he's angling for a pay rise by saying he might quit

always felt the initial 18 months just covering up to the WC was a bit short sighted and put a huge amount of pressure on him to deliver 

another 2yrs gives us continuity and regardless of what happens in the WC, the very serious aim of winning the Euros in 28 on home soil 

when you look at the other candidates or lack of, it makes sense. Howe is probably the most realistic option next and longer term and it doesn’t feel like he’s going anywhere between now and July

we always tend to pay our managers the most, and none of them deliver, but take the money regardless

you take the job, you take the money, you know what is expected

whether that is feasible is another matter
