assume no away fans, as it's chelsea who sell the tickets

The away club sells them initially and gets invoiced by Chelsea so in theory they could retain the money initially or Premier League could keep hold of it

There must be a way around it, possibly as you've suggested above ... but presumably they'd need to close the kiosks.

I'm not so sure about this. Property etc doesn't get sold overnight. Of course, the ones not yet sanctioned will be trying, but no one is paying them top dollar for a mansion in a 1000 acre estate.

Some of these enabling companies may be getting nervy about working for them too.

Apparently not which is a bit ridiculous really and can probably then be argued that hospitality can continue etc and in the end it’s just a pointless exercise.

@Roger_Dubuis likes this

Their sponsors, 3, have scrapped their sponsorship, so Chelsea will be playing without a sponsor on their shirts.

Got something to do with the ground too

£40m deal

Which adversely affects the sale price

Some guy on r5 was saying unless the next owner can fund from his own pocket anything like what RA did, this will seriously effect how competitive they can be in the transfer market as they don't have the ability to generate income like the rest of the "big six" eg ground only holds 41k

It's not money laundering at all.

It was all about soft power, leverage in the UK. We just didn't see it at the time. A sharp point proved when you can get UK citizens chanting a Russian's name during protest against a war killing innocent people.

In fact, the sooner the west recognises that 'soft power' from football club ownership to sponsorship of our flagship cultural institutions is anything but soft and has a huge impact politically, the better.

You want the government to involve themselves in private businesses for the good of the country?

You're getting there..

Saudi have been attacking Iranian backed rebels in Yemen. A proxy war, and some poor accuracy, but their situation is different to the Ukraine one.

Different but still bombing the shit out of innocent people.

There's no clean cash here.

I'd rather be us than fighting for the CL with all that nonsense.

I know other's view will differ.

Chelsea v Newcastle on Sunday

Not ok to bomb civilians in Ukraine v ok to bomb civilians in Yemen

There's very little clean cash at the top of the game so also just slating certain clubs isn't helpful.

Maybe (although I doubt it) we'll all try and kick dirty money out by voting with our feet when dodgy people buy clubs.

But we won't, which is why they do it.

The fans choose the club to follow, they don’t choose the owners.

If the league want to allow almost anyone to own a club we shouldn’t really be surprised when humanitarian morals are forgotten, but that doesn’t lie with supporters.

Totally disagree, just because you support a football club, doesn't mean you just ignore it.

Football fans are not just lumpen sheep, that's what those owners want us to be. Complicit, useful idiots.

I didn’t say it should be ignored but what do you expect fans to do? Walk away from their club?
In this case what are Chelsea fans supposed to do?

Fans can hurt the club, and yes actual boycots hurt. Protect your club by standing up for it, and if it means that much yes, don't go to the match.

I really don't buy into the 'what are we supposed to do' line. There is plenty fans can do. Without fans, they wouldn't be here.
