Street party yesterday which was about a million miles better than expected , just about chatting.

Today some family here.

 

A dead nice weekend. I think we do stuff like this well as there is always someone there like Lee Mack taking the piss so you can never take it too seriously. But is very obvious the whatever your views on the monarchy that Elizabeth is as good an example of what a monarch should be like. The parade this afternoon was IMO an event too far and certainly way too long.

I zoned out after Saturday night, didn’t watch any of it after. I’m sure some Uber monarchist enjoyed the full hit, I’m pro the Queen but hardly a strong monarchist.

It was probably like a glorified Britain's got Talent with the likes of Ed Sheeran, Elton John, Cliff and some dance troupes. 

I much prefered the parade. Just the right side of British oddness/bit shit/having a laugh and not taking it too seriously.

We have a deep social contract with the Queen - the majority like her and also what she represents in terms of our recent history. 

They'll need to work hard after her as the general out-pouring of support won't just happen in the same way in terms of the capital that the Queen alone (not the monarchy) has.

I didn't watch it at all, and never saw a street party, but was kept fully up to date by that Gyles fucking Brandreth.

I must admit I'm always quite proud of how well we do these things.

Other countries envy us because our Monarchs prefer to slum it in the Scottish drizzle shooting obese birds, rather than sailing around the Meditteranean on massive yachts. So there's always that.

HAd a call with a client in Canada yesterday - all they wanted to talk about was the bloody Queen and Paddington Bear!
