Another series defeat

Maybe it's part of the cycle towards the next WC?

Bit like GB cycling- not necessarily quite as effective in other competitions, but build nicely to the big one.

Not saying it is the approach, but it might be.

Of course that means that some success has to be achieved at the world cup, which wasn't the case last time round.

It's partly a consequence of selecting weak squads, but mainly because the accomodating into the domestic calendar of the Hundred has led to the neglect of the 50-over format and many of our younger players haven't developed the skills needed to build an innings in the longer version of one-day cricket

Is this our A,B or C team? Good start by both England and Saq.

Went down to Old Trafford yesterday by tram to buy a Lancashire bobble hat. Sold out.
Helped a young South Korean couple from St. Peters Sq. going to OT (football) for a tour, both had United tops.
Spent the 10 min journey telling them that the original OT was and is a cricket ground and that Bolton Wanderers beat Manchester United 2-0 in the 1958 cup final.
They smiled and nodded and went on their way convinced that English people are everything they imagined. 😊

Read somewhere the other day that The Convicts v India is more popular than the Ashes. 😅

Looking at the crowds at the Optus, I’d disagree. Mind you, as usual, the Ozzies disappear when things go against them. 😊

51 weeks- 5 days. 👍

Surprised no mention of our decent start, then i remembered we have made a decent start!

Saw a servicemycar in the early coverage of day 3

Thought itd be a very tough tour, but santners absence will be helping

I was thinking that.

I still think NZ will come back. Just heard Finn say we’ve won the first test of our last 3 tours then gone on to lose the series. Some unusual shocking fielding from the Kiwis in the first innings, they take some of them catches  it could have been a lot closer.

But credit to England. Stokes with his mojo back, a good debut for Bethell, fine bowling from Carse, Pope showing his versatility and getting some runs.

It will be interesting to see whether they go with the same side in second test. Is Smith joining them at all on this tour?

Maybe cos im heartless but cant say smith not travelling sits well

Pope did OK and Bethell is seen as a real prospect by Baz so it might backfire if Pope performs with the bat, again
