You can often install windows software on a Linux system by using wine (http://www.winehq.org/). Most Windows software (and drivers) have a Linux alternative. I'd recommend using Ubuntu though.

I'd also recommend an ipad, assuming you can get a good deal on the first gen. I've got a 16gb one. The drawback of not supporting flash isn't as bad as I'd expected it to be. You can still watch Youtube, veoh, vimeo, tvcatchup and BBC iplayer on it. If you have access to a computer over wifi you can also use zumocast to stream avi, mpeg etc to it. There's itunes too obviously.

A long time and I could get in as a kid. Still, most tickets are around the ?25 mark, by the time I've added in getting there (another fiver) and a couple of pints it's getting on for ?40 which I simply cannot afford every week. It becomes a treat a few times a year rather than a regular thing. If it were significantly cheaper I'd be there no doubt about it and because I'll always be a fan that's irrespective of what division it's in. I find it hard to believe that there are not others who would go to more games if it were cheaper thus having the potential to increase attendances (the original question).

For me it's cost, nothing else. It should be a fiver or a tenner in my opinion like going to the cinema. I know it's expensive because the players get paid a fortune but I'd still watch us if we were in the conference (or whatever it's called these days) with worse players. As it is I only go to 2 or 3 games a season, and they're the cheaper ones (cup games and v west brom types). I suspect there's a fair few others in the same boat.

I live just over the road from this and the daft thing is they're keeping both stores open (for the foreseeable future at least). There's 2 stores selling exactly the same stuff literally within 20 yards of each other.

I did my undergrad degree full time at Bolton in Computer Science and there were loads of people in the same lectures as me doing it part time. The staff there were fantastic in my experience and I've managed to carry on to doing a PhD. I'd recommend doing a few varied modules if you're going dow the IT / computing route as they are very different and it's good to find what you enjoy and are good at. They all count towards a final compsci degree anyway. Good luck!

Hence I said those who AREN'T getting a 2:2 by the end of their first year. My first year at uni was a piece of piss, got a first with hardly any effort whatsoever. The years (in my opinion) get more difficult as time goes on. Those who aren't managing even a 2:2 in their first year either aren't cut out for degree level education in that field, haven't put enough effort in (which is unacceptable) or have had extenuating circumstances. If your suggestion is that a 3rd is OK then I disagree unless there extenuating circumstances. In my opinion a third is evidence of either laziness or an inability to fully understand the topic. Plenty of people go through uni with the attitude that any degree is good regardless of what it's in and what the grade may be. It is the people that do degrees in bollocksology and get a third yet still manage to manipulate the system to keep their student loans, grants, bursaries and free holidays etc that piss me off. Raising the minimum requirements for a degree would remove this to an extent. Guess this would put a load of people on the dole though...

If anything the free holiday should be given as an incentive for those who get good grades AND are from poorer backgrounds. Might encourage some of the lazy gobshites to put some effort in rather than pissing 3 years up the wall. I also agree that degrees are becoming less worthwile because so many people have them now. I reckon kick out those who aren't even getting a 2:2 at the end of first year. If you weren't any good at your job you'd get sacked, why should a degree be any different?

make sure you've plenty of disk space left and that the drive isn't constantly being written written to. Uninstall all software that's not essential and defrag the disk. Boot up in safe mode (shift+f8) and do a full virus scan. you could also try a system restore as someone else suggested. If after all that you still can't find the problem you're probably screwed and will need to reinstall windows. Also make sure it isn't overheating - take the cas off and put a great big desk fan facing it and see if it still crashes (remember to turn on the desk fan).
