Without that "racism" accusation they would have more likely done what they should have- treat the scene as was presented to them upon arrival. The "quality" of candidates and mps varies hugely, no doubt about that. Some of them are incredible intellects, with a deep understanding of law. Others have experience of a particular field, but may not be "academic". Some simply want to work for their constituents, and don't have a great desire to go any further- and may not have the ability to do so. Others simply have a desire to use whatever means they have to climb the greasy pole and ascend to the top.

There are many cases of things being done unprofessionally. Information is available, it's just whether folk want to find it. Which is the reverse of you post. I agree that in general we don't need to know about the innumerable cases the police deal with. Numerous crimes are readily reported on, and rightly so, where they are particularly serious or unusual, however there is a dearth of reporting generally around issues of unequal policing, along various lines. As I said above, there are also numerous interviews with former officers available too. When former officers reveal previous experience of corruption or poor performance, then you would rightly expect them to make the news. Yet those revelations would appear to be very narrow in their scope- at least historically. That is now changing thankfully.

Likewise. Does illustrate the poor quality of some.of our officers, but I don't need to see it. Plenty of interviews with former officers expressing their concerns, and anecdotes from current ones suggest many are fed up with it all.
