I used to love standing in front of people talking and as long as you prepare you will be fine. My biggest audience was over 200 doctors, nurses and other health care staff where I had to talk for 30 minutes about some new software that was being introduced and then take 30 minutes of questions. I do miss it sometimes and did think or setting up a small business teaching people how to present and write presentations but I really CBA but I have helped a few friends with wedding speeches and how to present but they don’t pay.

I retired in April aged 62. It was hard at first as your body and brain is set up to a routine and it took a few weeks to change that. We’ve had 3 decent holidays this year as a treat to ourselves after both working hard for over 40 years and will be planning more next year. I initially missed the interaction with groups of people I met and trained every day, I was a contractor for the NHS training doctors and nurses, but didn’t miss the early starts and occasional weekends. I now get to spend more time with SWMBO and to visit places we always said we would. Happy to have retired at what some would say is an early age but I keep active both physically and mentally.
