The difference was that the Brentford match was the last piece in the season's results. The impact of the result happened to be nil. This time the easy way out is to cancel our results a handful of matches in, unfortunately.

  3. In early May 1931the Football League told directors of Wigan Borough FC that the club faced suspension from the league if £806 owed to players in outstanding wages was not paid in full that month. Two players were sold for £650 and £48 raised in advance season ticket sales. A further £30 was raised at a shareholders' meeting on 30 May. All players were released to avoid paying them over the summer months. For the first match of the season on 29th August all players except the goalkeeper were new signings. Results were as follows (all Division 3N except Lancashire Senior Cup ties): 29/8 a L0-4; 2/9 h W 3-1; 5/9 h D 1-1; 9/9 h L 0-3; 12/9 a L3-4; 14/9 a L 0-3; 19/9 a L0-5; 26/9 h L 0-1; 30/9 LSC h D 1-1; 3/10 a L 0-3; 10/10 h W 2-1; 12/10 LSC a L 0-4; 17/10 h W 3-2; 24/10 a L0-5; 26/10 resigned from league with debts of £30,335/18/11d.

Surely the EDT will act in the interests of their beneficiaries. EDT is not ED. Any extra money which FV bid for the hotel reduces the amount available for football spending.
  5. Gary Cahill on the bench for Palace and earning a significant amount (allegedly £75k pw).

It's worth pointing out that we have earned 1 point from 3 games, just like Wimbledon, Peterborough and Bristol Rovers. Also Gillingham and Accrington have 1 point from 2 games. OK our goal difference is -7, like Southend, who have no points from 3 games.
  8. Root out first ball, England 9/2 with a first innings lead of 8.

But we are unbeaten at home.

Paul Appleton qualified as a chartered account in the 1990s. Apart from that your comments and sound.
  11. Wolves now have Torino standing between them and the group stage of the Europa League, just about the toughest opponents they could face!

Patten sailed out in 1997 with a Chinese promise not to integrate for 50 years. It was obvious then that China was in control and could do what it liked in the future, the only brake being how much attention China plays to world opinion - not much, really.

He left school in 1975, probably aged 18, so now early sixties.
  15. Not seen any mention of the fact that Ghislaine Maxwell (captain Bob's daughter) was a contemporary of Cressida Dick's at Balliol.

Essentially EFL were satisfied with the FV proposal even though the sale was not completed, whereas Bury's owner made no genuine attempt to demonstrate how that club could continue for a couple of seasons.

If you replace "Scargill" with "Bassini" in the first 3 paragraphs of the report on the Scargill case it reads pretty well.
  18. He was second cousin to Dennis Stevens, and Ray Parry had been captain of his England Schoolboys team when DE was a year under age, before succeeding Parry as captain the next season. But he chose MU.
  19. Crewe knocked M'boro out on penalties. Crewe last beat Boro in the FA Cup qf in 1888.

Kenny Deuchar qualified as a doctor and went on to play in each division of the Scottish league, as well as brief sojourns in English League One (for Northampton) and the MLS in the first decade of this century. Dr Kevin O'Flanagan played for Arsenal in the first league season after WWII. He was a part-time GP and remained an amateur (not because he was a doctor but because he wanted to be able to continue to play RU).

I think Bassini's issue has always been with the EFL. BWFC just came into view at a suitable time for him. Maybe he's transferred his hopes to Bury?
