Beers What You Miss.
When I was a Christmas Casual on the post in 1968 I was riding shotgun to a parcel delivery driver. The round included Walkers Brewery. The commissionaire gave tokens to visitors entitling the bearer to a pint of mild or a half of bitter in the canteen.

That's for the World Championships later this month, and there has been some sort of temporary repair.

Tour of Britain 2019
Started today in Glasgow. Finishes with a stage from Altrincham to Manchester next Saturday (14th). Basically it loops anticlockwise around Greater Manchester, with the final sprint point in Horwich around 2pm, finishing on Deansgate an hour later (maybe they are using bus lanes?).

Any club failing to fulfil its fixture obligations …. shall be deemed guilty of misconduct …. Section 8 then refers to Investigations & Disciplinary Proceedings. So it's all suitably vague because it is dealing with a range of possibilities. The Brentford match disappeared into a Disciplinary Commission, and it is obvious that it really should have reported long before the season started. The circumstances were unusual, not least that the outcome of the match did not affect Brentford's position or our status (already relegated), but it needs to prevent such circumstances arising in future. The Doncaster one was unilateral action without reference to the opponents or the league, so a recurrence must be avoided, Maybe a suspended deduction of 6 points to be implemented if a further misconduct arose this season could be appropriate?

On the 1st of each month I re-read "World Sports" from 50 years ago. It refers to a joint FA/FL commission which had revealed financial irregularities at 3 clubs during the 1967-68 season, and quotes their punishments for essentially similar breaches. 4th Division Port Vale: expelled from the league (but gained re-election anyway). 3rd Division Peterborough United: 19 pt deduction, which took them to 24th place and relegation. 1st Division Manchester United: barred from paying friendlies against foreign opponents for a season (but they were allowed to defend a European trophy).

Bury
Read today that the first game Gareth Southgate attended (aged 4) was Bury v Watford. He was born in Watford, but briefly lived in/around Bury before the family moved back south to Crawley.

Season Tickets
Quite possible that some other clubs will achieve a -12 during the season.

Todays Games
Europa League draw coming up. Wolfsburg, Wolverhampton and Wolfsberger are in separate pots, so Celtic (or nine other clubs) could meet all three.

Where were you when you heard the news ?
I had the Take Over page open and it suddenly had updates in rapid succession, saw the screen shot and confirmed it on the club website.

It's worth reading through (only just over 3 pages) to see early comments from some others!

Typically delusionists take over minor non-league clubs, buy a couple of years success and then either run out of funds, lose interest, or switch to a higher club. North Ferriby is such an example but there are plenty others.- Take Over

Abandoned. I remember that waterpolo match.
