  1. Another dramatic twist!
  2. Pinot has dropped out on the road with an injury from 2 days ago. And Valverde and Uran in today's breakaway group!

I'm on about when they joined Bolton, not when they left!

And father benefitted from son's connections in knowing who was discontented or being badly treated, such as Djorkaeff and Okocha.
  5. Kim K scored the goal.
  6. Josh Zeller just won European Junior high hurdles.
  7. Bernal is now fifth, behind Mas who is the second man in Alaphilippe's team, so there is scope for Mas (1min 18 behind Thomas) to push on and put pressure on Thomas to react too early. He is unlikely to fall for that but it is certainly becoming interesting. I suspect tomorrow will be the most dramatic day (at least so far).
  8. Kilmarnock won last week's first leg 2-1, but lost 0-2 at home to Connah's Quay Nomads in the first qualifying round of the Europa League.
  9. Trump wants to send one of them back to Puerto Rico, which is effectively a colony of the US (and even has a non-voting commissioner at Congress, who is a Republican).
  10. and all round to Sharon's after the match.
  11. Last season the FA Cup had 736 teams.

I would expect that if we ask for the first match to be postponed as we can't field a team that we would be given until the end of the month to come good or fold.

Clubs have played a whole season while in administration.
  14. They are not penalised - it is a 50 over game and if you are out before that you get the same run rate for the same runs. What were the questions?
  15. Cardiff Met lost 1-0 away and won 2-1 at home, so out on away goal conceded in 73rd minute.
  16. I find JRM's sister more appealing.
  17. 240 all out from an allowance of 50 overs gives a run rate of 4.8. It doesn't matter whether you do it in 10 overs or 50 overs, so you are not hard done by. All out is all out. Batting second against a perceived easy target can be approached cautiously or aggressively. Aggression is rewarded as in WI v Pakistan. 106 needed off 50 overs could have led a team to score at 3 per over and feel comfortable. WI just went for it at just over 8 an over and were rewarded. If you want something to get het up about, look at Afghanistan v South Africa.

I've heard of the Jewish Telegraph but I don't know why they should be interviewing Bassini unless he is Jewish. He lives in Stanmore, where there is a Jewish enclave, so that may be the case. I have a Jewish friend who also lives in Stanmore and has done for maybe 30 years.
  19. It seems to me that it's the pundits who aren't fit for purpose. The system seems both fair and good to me. Teams do not get penalised for losing some wickets, only for being all out within their allotted overs. If you are, say 280 for 6 after 40 overs, there is every incentive to squeeze all the runs you can. In fact, even at 280 for 9 after 40 overs, getting as many runs as you can is still the best option. The reason Pakistan were in a hopeless position with regard to NRR is because of their pathetic opening defeat to Windies. All out for 105 in the 22nd of their 50 overs gave them a run rate calculated at 105/50 = 2.1. WI reached 108 for 3 in the 14th over, so their run rate was 108x6/(13x6)+2, giving a run rate of 8.1, so the NRR for that match was +/-6, giving them a mountain to climb. Rather like the Thai girls losing 13-0 to USA and then finding that a win in their final game will not be enough to proceed unless they get, erm, a cricket score.
  20. Winding up petition lodged against Macclesfield …. by their own players.
  21. Crimea has passed between Russia and Ukraine before. When Khrushchev took power following Stalin's death he transferred Crimea from Russia to Ukraine in the hope of demonstrating to those driven out by Stalin that they could return in safety (although hardly any did so). If/when Putin invades Estonia how long do you think it will take before an EU Army opposes?

He thought he was buying half a club. Then he found DH couldn't afford his share. What he has done since is certainly open to criticism, but it still remains true that without him the club may well have folded back then.
  23. He is confusing the Lord Mayor of London with the Mayor of London (easily done, mind!).
