  2. Villa wasn't an attractive enough job for Martinez last summer so what's changed? And there's been nothing to suggest Whelan is going to downsize like Bolton and half the wage bill is there? It wouldn't surprise me if he takes advantage of Bolton's relegation and gets another of our better players at a bargain price. The signs are that Dave Whelan is still prepared to fund a Premier League club but Eddie Davies isn't.

No, he'll get a bonus for filling the squad with Championship players who are on half the wages we paid out when we had Premier League players.

You are spot on.He is the only central midfield player we have had all season who will hold down a place at a reasonable Premier League club.Coming from Aston Villa I bet he couldn't believe the poor standard of most of the players in Bolton's team.Robinson,Eagles, both Davieses,Ngog and Muamba for example.
  5. SeanBW replied to HoldensHairdo's topic in Terrace Talk
Reo-Coker and Muamba played together as a central midfield several times and showed it wasn't good enough to offer anything going forward.Wolves, Everton and Newcastle at home are 3 examples off the top of my head where that partnership was pisspoor offensively. In 3 full matches the only goal we scored was a freak Sam Ricketts effort, the central midfield offered nothing offensively at home.
  6. SeanBW replied to HoldensHairdo's topic in Terrace Talk
It means we agreed to end his contract and let him leave for nothing if we were relegated.

A heart attack victim won't come back, forget that. Reo-Coker is too good for the Championship, it's no surprise that he'll be moving to a better team.I'll be mildly surprised if M Davies gets a move as todays Evening News suggested but I suppose one of the Prem's shit teams might take him as a squad filler.
  8. If we spend 1p more than we bring in that will be more than this season
  9. SeanBW replied to Krimzon's topic in Terrace Talk
What fucking idiot schedules a Player of the Year do for the night they might get relegated? Someone who is there for the money rather than gives a shit about the club.
  10. SeanBW replied to Krimzon's topic in Terrace Talk
If Holden and Lee are fit we don't need any signings to get promoted. We'd be half way in the Premier League with those two players in this team and with this manager.

Yep, the buck stops with the Chairman whether people like it or not.
  12. SeanBW replied to DomRepWanderer's topic in Terrace Talk
Yep, If he takes a job as Chairman then the buck stops with him.

We were going down in 2009/10 until Megson was sacked. His midfield was pisspoor, it was only the signing of Wilshire that kept us up that season.Unfortunately because of injuries and no miracle free transfer in January the midfield has been pisspoor all this season.
  14. SeanBW replied to anewman's topic in Terrace Talk
Is that the same Bergsson and Whitlow who couldn't handle Marcus Stewart in the First Division play offs?
  15. SeanBW replied to anewman's topic in Terrace Talk
I can't see Sam Allardyce being interested in crap like Knight.
  16. Coyle's critics on here seem to think the Muamba heart attack cannot be used as an excuse because he wouldn't have been playing anyway (even though he was playing when he had his heart attack)
  17. Robinson I'm not surprised that Leeds don't think he's good enough for them.
  18. Aye, it's a cracking achievement losing to Blackpool in the play offs.Just imagine the abuse Coyle will get if that happens next season.
  19. Some of them are now richer and have better teams than us.
  20. Football's always been a business even 40 years before Sky. As a football fan failure is much easier to take when you've realised that's all football is .An exercise for people to make money.

You can't set a Premier League team up to get the best out of a reasonably good player like Mark Davies. Jay Jay Okocha yes, Nicolas Anelka yes, Youri Djorkaeff yes but not fucking Mark Davies. He wouldn't even be in Bolton's team but for injuries ffs.Seriously we had better than Mark Davies in the central midfield last time we were in the 3rd Division.
  22. There's only Ricketts and Petrov i'd try and keep this summer, realistically only Ricketts because Petrov will surely be offered a contract by a Premier League club if we go down. 2 more years of Muamba earning 30k a week for nothing? How unlucky.
  23. When he decided to drop down the table from Burnley to Bolton for the sake of a modest payrise. A terrible decision when he would have got a bigger job in the summer if Burnley had stayed up or not.
  24. Phil Gartside would have to be fired and ED would have to provide a Megson sized transfer pot for Sam Allardyce to manage Bolton. He has too good a CV now to accept the Bolton job under the conditions he did in the 1990s.

It was Coyle's fault that Lee broke his leg so I am sure it's just a matter of time before Coyle is to blame for this.
