  1. Which match was it when the emergency stop got pulled a mile outside Trintiy St and many lads jumped off the train and ran off into the fields between Lostock and Bolton......the rest off us that stayed on the train got our names taken by police at Trinity St. Wasnt that day at Preston.....because i went on the bus and got thumped at Preston bus station!!
  2. First home i can remember is the 3-3 against Newcastle in the mid 70s First away was Blackpool at Christmas in 77/78/Queues the length of the pitch to get in,went in the home section of the main stand and was surrounded by Wanderers fans singing Jingle Bells. We won 2-0. Second away game was Notts County that season.Once again long queues meant missing the start of the game.....missed their goal right at the start..but a Whatmore diving header got us a point. Third away game was 0-3 at Anfield in 78/79....stood in the side terrace with the Scousers, watched the smoke bomb thrown from the away end, remeber the Kop singing W*nky Wanderers.Jimmy Case hat trick.
  3. I voted no. Charlton had a long losing streak under Curbishley which ended in rlegation a few years ago. Their board had the sense to realise that they would be lucky to get anybody better. Job description.....with a one million pound transfer kitty improve on lastseasons 8th place finish...could Mourinho or Wenger expect to have more than 23 points from 20 games with our squad and budget
  4. I dont think Nolan is injured....i think Sam made the mistake of picking Stelios because he rates him a better player.I think Stelios is possibly the worst ever player to win a European Championship....though admittedly my memory of the Czechoslovakians that won it in 1976 is limited. I thought Jussi should have stopped the goal.....seemed like a tame half volley from 25 yards out from where i was sitting. Cant say im angry.....8 points clear of relegation with 18 games left is adequate to achieve our goal of stopping up.
  5. Being in Europe next season would have made it more difficult for us to avoid relegation. Hopefully Everton will copy Ipswich next season and play in the Uefa Cup but relegated.
  6. I dont see Bolton getting relegated this season....Palace,WBA and Norwich are all worse and eight points behind us. Im worried about next season though.......unless the promoted 3 are as poor as these,we might go. Cant seeing us losing to WBA,they are much worse than Pompey,City or Bburn...we might only draw though.
  7. Think it was before their time northampton. Winston White did the damage that night i think. And in the return fixture Craig Madden scored a 90th minute winner for them.....the original game at Bury was called off at Christmas just before kick off which gave some Bolton fans the opportunity to raid a jewellers in Bury town centre if memory serves [-X

If WW can find two lads 6ft 6 to play in central defence it should be a tight match.
  9. Our first match against Bury in 20 years in the mid 80s. August Bank Holiday they were newly promoted from the 4th Division and outclassed us 4-1 at Burnden. On that miserable summer evening it sunk in that we wouldnt be challenging for promotion.
  10. I wasnt bothered by JJ's reaction. He handed the captains armband to another player, cant remember who and then trudged off down the players tunnel. He didnt storm off or anything like that. He was our match winner on the opening day of the season against Charlton when he scored a brilliant free kick.
  11. There are some decent hotels in the St Georg area directly opposite the main train station. I paid ??35 for a single room in a decent hotel with free porn channels earlier this year. There are some posh expensive hotels in this area and also plenty druggies and sex shops, cinemas etc. Its a short underground ride or roughly 30 minute walk to the Reeperbahn. Funnily enough when i was there i saw about 75 Hansa Rostok fans kicking off with locals at about midnight on a Sunday.
  12. I don;t think they can. Chelsea are desperate fora striker but are not allowed to have Carlton Cole back from Villa until the end of the season. Diuof was brave putting his head in when the boots were flying for the goal.
  13. I think we are more direct in our home games than away from home. At Soton and Spurs for example we dominated the match with passing and moving rather than the long balls of today and Crystal Palace. If it keeps us as strong as we are im not fussed.
  14. I will be happy with a draw against Newcastle.Their defence is dodgy but they look very strong going forward. The away support is down to the cost of tickets rather than the quality of our side i think.
  15. It was a great feeling when we went back to ALdershot and won 3-0 a couple of season later in Division 3. For sentimental reasons i like Aldershot and hope they get back into the league.
  16. I think the only ??15 seats are in the Family Stand. I've never been able to get just adult tickets in there before. In addition considering its only our reserves in the cup it can be quite entertaining sitting in the away end.
  17. ??20 is too much to watch our reserves.......its ??15 in the Spurs end if anyone wants to save a fiver. I actually went in the Wolves end at The Reebok when they knocked us out of the FA cup and robbie Keane scored two...same reason
  18. We went 1-0 up at Bristol as well A special mention must go to the 0-4 at Wolves in Div 4 and the police formations in front of the John Ireland stand.
  19. 0-5 at half time at Sheffield Wednesday when they were bottom of the league and we'd spent 10 million in the summer. 0-6 at half time at Notts County in the League Cup
  20. On our trip to Mansfield in 86/87 there was a big BWFC painted in white on a blue wall on the side of the stand to our right. We hadnt played there for 8 years and it has always puzzled me if it had been there since 77/78 or since earlier that day.
  21. Happy Birthday Big Sam was sung for the first time in a year. Selling out a London away game with only 3 Travel Club coaches going was rare. Seeing a supermarket with all the adverts in the window in Turkish was new. Not seeing one bearded Spurs fan with a funny hat on was new
  22. A thorn got stuck in one of his paws and he had to go to the vets.
  23. Darren spotted today outside the ticket office booing as Palace fans walked past.
  24. ??3 for a Lesbos bird show seems reasonable value. Especially if theres pie and peas at half time
  25. I think Sam is good enough to manage England. He would probably have five across midfield, but it wouldnt really matter if they won matches. England have not been able to hold onto leads under Erikkson (Brazil,France,Portugal,Austria come to mind) which are down to poor defending and lack of team spirit. Sam would soon sort that out.
