I like McAtee's character and I do genuinely think he gets what the club is about, he works hard and does tend to make up for his deficiencies with effort, but if his replacement was Cundle from Millwall then it's hard to argue he wouldn't be a significant upgrade. The lad has never played a professional game below Championship level and is only 24. McAtee is 27 and his best season in football came nearly 6 years ago in non-league.

I don't think we'll be signing either. Bright have ACD around the first team squad for now, he may only become available later in the window and we can't wait around. Similar for Kenny, he wants to stay there whether that's misguided is irrelevant really, we again can't wait for him to realise he's wasting his time. So yeah I agree with the sentiment that signings of their ilk would make sound business sense, we're at the mercy of them actually being available. This Dean wants to come it seems and may be available for similar money whilst being younger, English so may have higher resale value and looking to have more about him than Kenny did coming here last year.

Won't be at all surprised to see both him and McAtee still here this season, both on £10k.+ Since their promotion pay rises, neither are ever seeing that money again when they leave. Best we can hope for is someone takes them on loan for a year and covers at best half their wages. Evatt absolutely shafting us even now.

I think it's instead of, Kenny wants to fight for his place, I have a feeling that'll last until the end of the window seeing as they're about to sign their 3rd striker of the summer. But we can't sit here twiddling our thumbs for him to realise he's wasting his career there, so Dean will be this year's Kenny role if he comes and we're still after a Burstow-esque forward as well.

Are we still talking about Randall here?

Heard this today as well, he wants to stay and fight for his place, which explains our interest in that other lad in Belgium. Think its likely that Kenny will be on the move by deadline day though, he hasn't got a chance there, they clearly don't fancy him and if he stays beyond this summer then he's only himself to blame, another year wasted for the lad, already 23.

I'd argue we looked like a scoring on several occasions, most notably Rodrigues and Stephenson both had great opportunities created by Gale that on another day either could bury.

I'm a very big Stephenson fan from what I've seen this preseason.

Surely we can't be arsed, looked the better side with 11 men, and this season the less games the better.

Well that was silly, hope it doesn't ban him from league games.

Good half that. Comfortably the better side but do look guilty, as we did last year, of trying to walk it in a bit. I'd like us to just have a dig more, turn the possession in to genuine chances and shots on goal.

Genuinely gents, this forum has become a really really rubbish place to visit this summer.

Gale and Larra both looked dangerous so far which is nice, I really do like the look of Stephenson. Famewo won't be offering us much going forward though will he, very much the Johnston option at left back.

Is there a way I can mute the posts of people replying to him as well?

I agree about Gale. I get he can carry himself a certain way that people don't warm to, but he's clearly got ability, and I tried to point out towards the end of last year that he's played about double the amount of games last season than he ever has before. With no winter break and an injury in there as well. I think he's got plenty to give even at a higher level, I would like some strong competition for him but if he's got to start then I think there's still other areas of the team that worry me much more.

Our new Prime Minister.
It can be even worse than that, my wife is a teacher, when you talk about the things they have to teach that should be a parenting responsibility it can be even beyond the social expectations you mentioned. Kids get sent to schools not knowing how to wipe after going to the toilet, can't tie shoe laces or dress themselves, kids go to school hungry. Can go even more down the rabbit hole, if they've not been in nurseries there isn't even a basic level of understanding concepts like shapes and colours. Some parents don't parent at all and schools now, especially primary schools, are expecting to bridge the gap and get these kids brought up to a level of their peers almost overnight and if a child can't cope it's seen as a failure for the teacher. It's a stressful and rapidly unrewarding profession and one that this country is very soon going to realise needs far more support or we're going to be in a right mess.

Next England Manager?
Well that happened even sooner than I was expecting. Get him in.

I think my biggest concern is we have quite a favorable fixture list to start the season and it is worrying that any new signings from this point aren't going to be at all up to speed in time for some of these "easier" games to get us off to a good start. It might well be that some of our bigger or better signings won't be made until right up to the deadline as players become available, but that would lead to them immediately having to face Millwall away and then West Ham at home. It's certainly not ideal.

But they've also been capable of spending £2.5m on a player, I cannot understand how we appear to be so cash strapped. I appreciate we have higher operating costs, but our revenue surely out does clubs around us by a good margin.
