Watch this turn into bash the young uns it was better in my day etc... It happens every so often with things like this, exams being easier, dumbed down etc. The same things were being said 25 years ago by the then 40/45 year old and the young ones at the time hated it but history repeats itself. Passing the test is not the issue it's getting people to drive properly once they have passed and that applies to all ages. Driving at the correct speed, not using mobiles, being distracted, acting Charlie big bollocks in front of your mates, accepting your eyes might be failing or reaction times slowing down as you get older etc.
