Indeed

And theyve had 13 years to do something about it

Just a reminder of where we were 14 years ago. The Labour budget in 2009.
https://amp.theguardian.com/uk/2009/apr/24/budget-spending-cuts-alistair-darling

“Ministers will be forced to make the most savage spending cuts since the 1970s, a respected economic thinktank predicted yesterday, confounding Alistair Darling's attempt to deflect claims that his budget has ushered in a decade of austerity.”

And the Conservatives have had 13 years to do something about it, but have only made it many times worse... Surely you're not defending them based on a hypothetical situation from 14 years ago?

And they were turfed out a year later with a Tory government promising the opposite.

Thats like Big Sam blaming Colin Todd for his departure

Defending them? That was the situation in 2009. It was a prediction of a ‘decade of austerity’ That was with a Labour government. The prediction, as it turned out was correct. They didn’t predict that the Tories would preside over it.

I think you’ll find that they warned of huge cuts in public spending. Hardly the opposite.

It was a 'prediction' of what a Labour government would do. The prediction came true (if not worse) because the Tories enacted it on steroids. Yet it's somehow still the fault of a Labour government that never existed... Your mind is bent.

As usual you’re assuming things I never said. The article is there for all to see and read. The Tories didn’t start the fire, it was always burning….

No, you're assuming an imaginary Labour Government would have taken exactly the same route as the actual Conservative Government, based on a Guardian article...

It wasn’t the last Labour budget. This was. More cuts.

https://www.theguardian.com/uk/2010/mar/24/budget-2010-whitehall-public-sector-cuts

I found this interesting.

“The newly detailed cuts will also be poorly received by many public sector workers already striking over changes to their pay and conditions.”

Can we extend the 13 years now?

Who has been in Government for the last 13 years?
