A few years ago I was adopted as grandad by a young woman I worked with who has been disowned by her dad, didn’t get on with rest of the family and had been having trouble with her mental health. She sent me a really nice text about being the grandad who stuck by her when she needed one. I must’ve got some shampoo in my eyes a bit.
