Downside for me is it's streaming to my laptop which I'm hooking up to the big telly via HDMI which means I can't faff about on the computer during the game unless I get a 10 foot HDMI or can be arsed to dig out the iPad which I haven't used or seen for months. Or am I doing it wrong?

I've just gone through the Internet on my TV, no need to hook up anything.

If you have sky or use a firestick it's easier to do that.
