Our defence of the Papa John's Trophy starts Tuesday

Anyone bothering?

Will we let Declan John play against us?

  • To be fair. He may of done just that as he came on. Are you suggesting it’s coincidence and not wanderlust calling the shots

  • You might have converted them from that position, but you wouldn’t have got into that position

What are you watching?

The 60 second sequence where Maghoma received it in the middle, awful touch to give it away, three chances to tackle not taken, ball ends up on byline and the cross is a foot over 2 unmarked Salford attackers on the edge of our 6 yard box. Maybe 5 or 6 mistakes in a row?

Generally we've been good but not great (bar the opening goal obviously) and at 2 nil up we seemed to take our foot off their throats and let them back into it.

One attack with a player making a mistake and not being able to rectify it hardly represents a lack of concentration.

Repeated examples by him and team mates then maybe, but it's a solid performance against an opponent who hasn't been able to offer much.

2nd half may be different, who knows, but so far it's been very professional.

I was a bit wary with us having no battlers in midfield, but they have just been superior so far.

It's attack v defence in the main. If we score the third it's game over.

Dan should have done better with his chance and Morley was unlucky with the header so we weren't that far from getting it. As long as we give them nothing it should be plain sailing - their second string is nowhere near as good as ours.

Might change the dynamic if they bring on more of their regulars and we bring on some B team lads, but otherwise this should be in the bag.

Maghoma, Iredale and Williams all had chances to break it up and the marking in the middle was dubious - all happened in the same move - but that was the only time we gave them more than one bite of the cherry thankfully and as you say, overall it's a solid performance and a game that we are generally in control of.

Could do with that third....

Mmmkay, can stop yer moaning now.

3-0

Maghoma constantly creating stuff tonight, great goal from Morley, v poor from Nlundulu before it with his control

On cue - nice finish from Morley

Changes might not be too far away now that 3rd has gone in.

Morley spares Lundlus blushes!

Nlundulu just does not look up to it. Anytime he gets the ball in the box he wants 25 touches. Just fucking hit it Dan.

Fair enough - I just want us to get better and better for the challenges ahead.

Dan doing my head in though - he needs a goal to perk him up.

Why they not giving the prospects a chance? It's 3 nil FFS.

Do you ever stop looking for something to moan about?

F*** off - it's constructive criticism.

Come on then - tell us when the prospects should get a chance if not when we're 3 nil up at home against a L2 side?

Have all your drinking vessels got a hole in them? 😁

It's not constructive though is it. Unless you think Ian Evatt is logged in to wanderersways on his phone and keeps checking this thread during the game?

He follows my work religiously. FACT.

YUP. Let's see what we've got so I can slag him off to keep Cheese happy.

We are such a lovely watch in games like this

The pass and move is beautiful

He's just lost out against one of their defenders. Must be bobbins.

He's shit, get him off!

Got a bit of pace to him, decent movement, nice ball up the wing early doors, unlucky with the ricochet for a GK in the corner, slightly overhit cross - but overall, looks a prospect.
