The Glastonbury Thread

Looks wank

There's a handful of acts I'll try to catch but for me it's not a patch on last year

Haven't even heard of the Sunday night headliner, SZA

Or the act before them, Burna Boy

  • Didn’t think it needed saying, but for the hard of thinking - if you don’t like what you are seeing and/or hearing at Glastonbury, just turn your telly over or go out for a walk. Nobody, and I me

  • If you want to see irony at its finest then I give you Glastonbury 2025. A festival so "free-spirited" it’s surrounded by a 13ft fence, armed security, ID checks, and its own holding pen for bord

The red button on BBC is gash. Normally you can find all sorts from all day. There's fuck all on it

I thought that was really good

It's all just ace really innit? Even if you don't like the band/performer, it's almost always proper heart warming. And you're always only a click away from a different stage. Glasto coverage alone is worth the licence fee for me.

(Disclaimer: I might be on ecstasy)

It's ace innit.

I honestly love any live music. Even if I'd never dream of listening to whoever it is or that genre, live music is just ace to watch.

Even that mad cow Self Esteem.

It's all ace.

Never been to Glasto but always enjoy it on the box, something for pretty much everybody over the weekend. Stepdaughter went a few years back, Foals (who we both love and have seen 5 times) were the surprise act on Park Stage (I think, might have been Other), she was made up.

a few things as i catch up

i've wanted to go since i heard Ash smash it in 97- my missus wouldnt entertain it... maybe in 2 years, but 5 more likely if we get a camper

does Matt Healy still get girls out of the crowd? bit dubious

only seen a clip of FF and i hope i can catch up on so so much: Shed Seven and Elvana?

the FOMO is real- especially if Pulp rock up

I saw Chubby at the Apollo; he walked off stage the soft arse

Labatt Ice😍- this came up last night: they gave away a free programme for the MNF game in 97 if you bought 2 bottles- £1.75 each. First ever game at the Reebok, programme cost £4. Winner winner

Iplayer is best bet

Alanis was probably the pick yesterday

Found all the stuff eventually.

Watched the Wunderhorse set again. Biblically good

It's a bit shit today imo, hoping Pulp saves the day with this secret set

Script are on I know you like them

There's another TBA slot at 19:30 on the park stage

Haim supposed to be that TBA which will be interesting if Numans fans can’t be arsed to leave

Enjoying these updates:

10am Glasto Update (Still Dark Mode, Now With Sunburn):

Regained consciousness inside a fold-up camping chair that had somehow inverted itself around me like a fabric sarcophagus. My legs are sunburnt, my soul is damp, and someone’s drawn a third eye on my forehead in pesto. I think I’m enlightened.

The tent I woke up in is gone. Physically. Just not there anymore. One moment it was real, the next it was memory foam for the mind. I’m starting to suspect it was never mine to begin with. Or real. Glasto physics.

I found a man dressed as an owl eating a Pot Noodle with a glow stick. He said his name was “DJ Hootsuite” and offered me a “bliss bean.” I declined. He respected it. Then flew away. May his vibes carry him far.

Spotted my mate Jez emerging from a hedge like he’d just been reborn via foliage. He said, “I saw the bassline, and it spoke to me in Binary.” Gave him a crisp. He wept. Hugged me. Called me “Father Rave.”

Someone threw a bag of Monster Munch at me and shouted “Communion!” I accepted. It felt sacramental. Spicy. Holy, even.

Walked past The Wormhole again—now it’s just a muddy patch with three people playing Uno and a crow watching them like it’s in charge. The K lads have either ascended or become compost. Unclear.

Cone of Power is now a caution cone stuck on top of a rave unicorn float. Still revered. Still glowing. One bloke bowed to it while muttering “It knows.”

Saw a girl tap a tree and say “Oi mate, got any serotonin?” The tree didn’t answer. We all respected the effort.

Currently crouched under someone’s tarp commune, sipping lukewarm Lucozade through a paper straw that’s lost the will to live. A guy named Lentil just told me the lineup is a social construct and time is a psytrance illusion. Lentil might be right.

Still no backi. Still profoundly unwashed. Spiritually raw. 10% hydration, 90% unanswered questions.

Pray for Jez. He thinks he’s Bluetooth.

Weezer, Nova Twins, Pulp and Hard Fi on my list then see what else happens

Bob Vylan is on now and is rather excellent.

At Glastonbury some years ago my cousin came back from having a piss and said he'd been stood next to 2 Geordie lads. One of them said to the other, "I've just filled that empty can up with piss" his mate replied, "Good times mate, good times".

This Bob Vylan set might upset a few.

Chanting “death death to the IDF” at 3pm on a Saturday is going to have the BBC in meltdown.

My Mrs hasn't moved since he's been on, she's a little bit in love with him

is the guitarist invisible?

He’s a Jewish bloke, so they keep him out the back so as to avoid confusion.

Lucy Darcus is on now, her stuff is excellent. Love her voice and the stuff she does with Boygenius is great.

Went seeing her a few years ago and you're right she a class act.

Listen to her stuff a lot when I'm working, just really comforting. Although Thumbs can reduce me to tears if played at the right/wrong time.

Playing Vic Warehouse soon, cheap tickets

Just going back and watching Japanese Breakfast, very good. Best set for me so far those is Lucy Dacus. Perfect summer afternoon listening.
