July 15, 20242 yr ….how is it so popular? Mrs e loves it but it has to be the shittest food going. You feel like shit after it. Just no pleasure in the whole experience. Most overrated food ever
July 16, 20242 yr Not a massive fan myself - especially that weird combo using fucking pineapple. As appetising as kippers and custard. But - one exception. Where the missus' family originates from is the region where it was invented to ultimately win the competition. Along the seafront there is a high stone wall with a square hole in it around 18 inches across. Been operating for over a century. You hand your money in and a freshly made margherita comes the other way - no other options. Base, tomato, mozzarella, fresh sweet basil leaves. Basic, simple and fucking sensational. Plenty of pleasure and no feeling shit afterwards. Other than this though, it wouldn't bother me if I never saw another pizza.
July 16, 20242 yr The Real Woodfired ones Made in a Woodfire like they do Abroard are Amazing your ones from Kabab places are BIZ
July 16, 20242 yr As above, thin ones, cooked quickly, without too much cheese are heavenly. Thick, doughy or cardboard-like bases, laden with grease are gut wranglers. Bastard spelling doofer! Edited July 16, 20242 yr by Tonge moor green jacket
July 16, 20242 yr I don't mind the occasional one at home but I well never ever order one in a restaurant as it seems a waste of a meal
July 16, 20242 yr Don't mind a jalapeno/veggie one mainly because i don't feel like dog muck afterwards.
July 16, 20242 yr A good pizza is a thing of beauty, had many a good pizza all over in many places, although i have also had some absolute dogger ones . Dominos is particularly dogger , only ever had pappa johns at 2 different caravan parks and both times very expensive and very shite. During the recent euros, tesco had some of there own pizzas on for £1.75 with club card and were as nice as many restaurant pizzas.
July 16, 20242 yr Try Tessoro's in Heaton. Used to be at The Finisher's Arms but now have their own place. Come back to me once you've tried it! 👍
July 16, 20242 yr Eating a meat feast from papa Sam’s whilst queuing for Bradshawgate taxis back in the 90s was a thing of beauty, apart from shoving the last bit in your gob as you got told get in a taxi going to Farnworth as you were going to Breightmet and I would drop you off 🤷♂️ Never had a nice one since or maybe never been that pissed since.

July 16, 20242 yr Love a pizza, all shapes and sizes from the dirty cheap Chicago Town with stuffed crust with crap to lovely wood fired sourdough things - my favourite 'fast food' by far, better a Franco Manca than a MacDonalds. M&S do decent frozen ones. Current favourite topping is anything seafood based - classic frutti di mare covered in mussels, squid, prawns and a ton of anchovies.. The only one I'll turn my nose up to is those ones in Greggs - but I don't think they qualify - more cheese on toast.

My local does fresh made to order sourdough which are decent to share after a few ales As said though, restaurants no, I don't even like ordering pasta there as I feel I can do just as good a job at home, love my meatball pesto mushroom spaghetti done at home no restaurant has ever come close I honestly don't think I've ever had pasta or pizza eating out and thought "fuck me that was good I'll come here and have it again"

It's what is put in or on it that counts! As you say, can make a decent sauce/filling at home.

I had a ravioli dish in there that made me stop after a couple of mouthfuls to say "wow" out loud. It was really that good and I doubt I could replicate it at home

A decent pizza out for lunch is generally better than other sorts of pub grub. But then, controversial I know but I'm no fan of a Sunday roast.

July 16, 20242 yr Who’s the dangerous, demented fruitcake who puts mushy peas on his Xmas dinner? Im dreading his contribution to this thread.

Sausage and chips on a bed of mushy peas topped with curry sauce. The one I posted was this. Even more obscene. Edited July 16, 20242 yr by FrancisFogarty
