Who was George Higson?

Not a clue. But I would say a very large percentage at that time would put Clint Eastwood or Muhammad Ali as the person they would most like to meet.

Without wanting to sound Scouse, this needs to be on the big screen Sunday, in front of 20k+ and millions across the globe; not to 900 tomorrow night

Really sad news. My dad used to knock about with Roy and I’m with him at the moment. Tells some nice stories about him.

summed up by proper footballer. Proper lad. Proper wanderer.

Roy used to do scouting for, I think, Gerry Francis at QPR.

One day, Roy said he had a couple of comps. for the match against Forest. We sat in the Manny Rd. Stand and he told me about this young midfielder that he was looking forward to seeing. All through the match, he kept tapping me on the leg saying things like, look at that, watch this, watch that etc. Fascinating listening to an ex pro analysing a player. He never said and I didn’t ask if he was actually working.
The player was Roy Keane.

Roy Greaves scored a hatrick on my first ever Wanderers game. Absolute club legend who always gave his all.  I don’t remember when he finished playing, probably 81/82 but him and Paul Jones were huge losses around that time. RIP Greavo !!

Total stalwart for the Whites, never got the plaudits offered to others unfortunately but the engine room in a fantastic era for us.

Quite a few of that mid-late 1970s team gone now.

Frank, Tony Dunne, Brian Smith, Chris Thompson, Peter Thompson, Mike Carter, now Roy.

Grew up watching them lads.

Others who spring to mind...siddall, mcdonagh, jones x 2, taylor, thommo, whatmore, waldron, morgan, train

Think theyre still with us?

Who am i missing...limiting it to players before promotion, say 75 onwards

When I think Hugh Curran I also think of Ralph Wright but I can't think if they were contempories.

Mike Walsh. Peter Reid.

You wouldn’t have got one as Frank was at Philadelphia fury.

Well that’s a bugger. I remember getting the T shirt with the Cosmos crest on.

Ive googled it now and you’re right. I must have just asked for Peles shirt. I do apologise.

I think Hugh Curran scored a header from about 25 yards out in about 1975! Does anyone Remember that?

If we are including Frank then we have to include Gowling.

Aye, but i wasnt...trying to keep it, i guess, greaves years

Though i did 18 months of mr armfield
