I think it’s more frustrating that someone makes weird breathing noises on the buff when interviewing players / managers

Jack Dearden. He had throat cancer so probably something to do with that.

Yes, and I don't get it. What's he got wrong that  indicates he "knows fuck all about BWFC"?

I know you’d be upset if this wasn’t called out that you can’t spell😂

For the record I like Derek. Think he’s knowledgeable as a non Bolton fan can be on us.

I’m with you.

I like him.

He has a nice bond with his fellow Scot SJM.

I think SJM recognises he’s in that position he was. Before he came not knowing too much about BWFC.

But he’s someone who is embracing himself into the BWFC community and will no doubt be building a close bond to our club and town.

I’m not going to get pissed off that he doesn’t know the inside leg of a yank that played for us 15 years ago.

It's a fair cop.

Totally agree with you on Derrick.

Yup Im in the Derek Clarke is pretty good for us camp . I enjoy his comms. And hes been wearing a Wanderers top on his hols.

Really enjoyed listening to Holden, if I recall correctly he was one of the top performing midfield players in the Premier League before the 'incident'. Hearing what he went through to try and get back was heartbreaking and I'll never forgive that twat Evans, if I ever see him in Perth I'll push him into traffic. He clearly loves Coyle but was realistic enough to say he couldn't find a way to stop the rot when it turned. SJM is correct in saying Holden is part of the fabric of the club and will always be welcome in Bolton. I found the fact that he still calls the stadium 'The Reebok' and that he was considering asking Schumacher for a substitute place both hugely endearing.

On topic I've no strong feelings either way on Derrick Clarke.

I like him.

The main reason I like him is he's not that pillock Harlan who used to get on the comms sometimes.

Fuck me, he was proper shite.

he was, but 2 wrong uns don't make a right

He did use to grind my gears during covid football with his premature commentary "What a ball from Ali Crawford, a magnificent 40 yard switch out wide" when it used to go out for a throw every single time but he's grown on me over the years.

Great podcast with Holden, I remember when we smashed Newcastle 5-1 at home where we had Taylor-Holden-Muamba-Chungy-Elmander-SKD & it was purposeful front foot football with tons of energy whilst still mixing it up to SKD when needed. Genuinely loved watching that team for the short spell we got to see them together on the pitch, rotten luck with how it changed so quickly & obviously how poor the replacements were for the injuries sustained Ngog/Reo-Coker/Miyaichi/Pratley/Eagles/Sordell/Boyata/Ream awful recruitment

Bit harsh putting Ream in with those others.

That season with Holden on form was as good as it's ever been watching Bolton

Different re-hab approach. Let’s hope it reaps rewards.

If us fans can be as positive as Dempsey and he comes back to something like his best, this could be exciting.

I agree with McGinlay, our set up could be made for him.

Could only be a few weeks away now. Almost last chance saloon, let’s hope it works for him and us.

I don’t think it’s a case of forget about it.

Yes, treat with caution, don’t get your hopes up etc

And going to the opposite extreme of pinning your hopes on him and seeing him as the missing link and the difference maker, with his previous injury record would be silly.

But after listening to that it’s hard not to follow his come back with interest and hope for some luck on the injury front, especially when he’s so positive and working so hard to make an impact.

Dempsey is fucking class, hard as nails, and will definitely add something if he can return to form and stay fit.

He'll always get the benefit of the doubt from me anyway - purely for cementing a beautiful memory in my mind when he scored that opening goal at my kids' first trip to Wembley.

benefit of the doubt?

we all hope he gets fit and performing as well as we know he can

it's not a question of whether he's any good or not

it's a question of whether he's a crock or not

there's no doubt he is a crock

Yes. He gets the benefit of the doubt from me that he's just been unlucky, can return to full fitness long term, and is not actually a crock. That's what 'benefit of the doubt' means.

ok, but be aware that you are giving him the benefit of the doubt based on a match performance from 2.5 years ago
