Tourists go home

More protests in Spain and Tenerife this weekend about Tourists swamping their towns and driving prices up etc.

Stop the planes :)

Think they've got a point to be fair.

They just want less...

They reckon that biting the hand that feeds is not advisable.

They are protesting the lack of affordable homes in tourist areas, not the actual tourists.

Without the tourists, they'd be f*cked

Short sighted in the extreme. The country is a bit of a basket case. Youth unemployment was up around 26% the last time I looked.

Severely damaging the hospitality industry would be a master stroke. Tourism and Brit, Scandy, German and Belgian migrants pulled them out of the shit in 2012. They were grateful then.

This is why Airbnb needs proper regulation. There are just no rules and you deal with a load of shite.

£900 a night next door to me was going for min 2 night booking at weekend. 20+ people every week being cunts. Can see why they protest. More and more gaffs here going the same way. Fuck me you can even an Airbnb in horwich

This is true. They know they need tourists. They also know they need housing for their kids. We were in Lanzarote last week (thinly veiled) and prices there are not much different than you see in Leeds. Why build small houses when tourists snap up all the large villas ?

I’m sacking Spain off, ungrateful sods can have what they want

Hopefully they go after those orange weirdos who like parading around Benidorm

They won’t be arsed in Benidorm as there are still plenty of gaffs to go around.

Shame 😄

But yeah it’s wildly out of control in many places. Air B&B has a lot to answer for.

Benidorm is sound. You can easily avoid folk you want to avoid

Surely a man of your status doesn’t venture away from the higher ends of the Spanish riviera

Very easily done.

Status? Quo vadis with this?

Domestically it can be an issue. I wouldn't want to live in places like Edinburgh and Stratford-upon-Avon.

I remember reading about a location somewhere in Cornwall that was used for the Poldark series. It was a small place. Locals where chuffed at first but then came the tourist. It's a double edge sword.

Here's another consequence of fame.

No protests in Girona, even being down the road from Barcelona. Locals very happy to see tourists.

Ah so locals with legitimate concerns about the influx of foreigners for all kinds of justified reasons speak up and it's sensationalised in the media in to being a radical protest and that they hate all foreigners and want them out?

Surprised nobody has labelled them thickos or racists.

If some knob head hijacked the protest and decided to do that would that then nullify the locals original concerns?

Or does everyone then get tied in with the dicks just out for a row?

Well we all know the answer to that don't we.

The KLF main gripe is the number of houses bought as second homes by Tarquin and Gemima to show up for two weekends a year leaving them as ghost towns over winter

I get that. But in Barcelona, and other major hubs, it's the numbers arriving too. Constantly. It's like a passive immigration invasion. It seems enough is enough.
