Starmer tells us ID cards will be "free"... not the case, it will come from government spending which we all know needs reducing.

There'll be another DVLA set up and Passport style office somewhere costing us all billions and having very little effect on what it has been introduced to control

Agree with all of that. He needs to turn things around quickly, or he's a dead man walking. 

The whole "Smash the Gangs" nonsense was never going to work, they'll never, ever be stopped.

As said, why not go back to good old law enforcement... clamp down hard on illegal premises and introduce internment camps for the illegal and unwelcome people prior to rapid deporting

It's been said many times, give them nothing when they arrive. If, as a business you're found to be knowingly employing people who are not allowed to work, then massive fines and jail time. It's the only way we can even attempt to stop them coming. Even that probably won't fully work.

Were there fuck all checks going on?

Have they been fined?

No one who delivers food for Deliveroo, Uber Eats, etc. is an employee

They are legally self-employed contractors who hold an account with the company

But they then sell/rent/share their accounts to an asylum seeker who makes the deliveries to make money

And therein lies a massive problem. I'm sure there are plenty who are outraged at these illegals, but they help fund the black market that's employing them, via haircuts, carwash, cash in hand jobs, brasses, vape shops etc.

Also include severe penalties for the landlords if they are trading from premises...

I was talking with a developer and mentioned the "nail bar supplies" company renting 2 units off him were most probably illegal immigrants. He confessed they keep wanting to pay rent in cash and their balance sheet can't afford the rentals, also another tenant who has a Chinese wife has told him they are definitely illegal Vietnamese.

He just turns a convenient blind eye

I'd imagine your game is rife... I booked a "contractor" for a builders clean and the site was flooded with Afghansand and Ukrainian draft dodgers. Then the twat had a pop at me because we docked his tax at source as he didn't produce a UTR.

There's loads of folk who love cheap labour so don't care if they are illegally working or not.

Only way to sort it is enforcement, huge fines and prison. But we don't have the money for that or the prison space.

You have to question why? Not just now but for many years and administrations, they just don't want to go near. I can only assume they know there are so many now that it will cost an absolute fortune to fix?

Unless you prefer big brother to completely control your life and potentially where and on what you spend your hard earned. The dangers of Bitcoin and other digital currencies are already plain to see. No Chinese, North Korean or Russian cyber criminal will be able to take your cash from your pocket.

Still, there are plenty who want government to think for them as it's all too hard to expend that mental energy. One step away from those who become accustomed to institutionalisation.

Just let it go through the normal Parliamentary process, they can try and force it all they want, it won't go through anyway. Even if it did somehow get through the Commons, it would get stopped/rejected in the Lords.

Still, in the same way as the Conservatives stuck with the Rwanda scheme, Labour will stick with this - both know/knew their schemes wouldn't work, but they stick with them and claim "We're trying to do something, and everybody is blocking us"  -  presumably in some sort of attempt to get the other side(s) to come up with a workable alternative, which they can't/won't
