Potential to be thin end of the wedge, and for some, that's a concern. 

A recent suggestion (today) from some mp or other, suggesting that the reason for its introduction goes beyond the "migrant" control.

For what it's worth, the migrant control part won't make a jot of difference- it's already illegal to employ the undocumented- so why would a dodgy employer bother if a card is introduced. 

Whether it is of more use elsewhere: maybe, or maybe not. That's down to how it is used.

There are fruit cakes out there spouting bollocks about ID cards. 
 

The government will monitor your spending and will stop it if you spend too much or if you take too many holidays they will stop you booking more and the best is that they will know how much you have spent on beer and fags and will restrict your access to NHS services because of it. 
 

Sadly there are some people who shout at hotels who will believe it.

Because the infrastructure will create an entirely new level of expensive civil service bureaucracy wasting public money that could be better spent elsewhere... and it won't solve the problem it is being introduced to resolve.

Starmer is failing with the promised direct action and is now going for an easier fix... just make up an app to solve it!

I said the other week, on a flight back from Amsterdam, I met a bloke who was flying in from Nigeria (where he now lives) to attend the Tommy march. He was telling me that Labour are about to bring in a law that means the Government can, without question, take any money out of your account if they want to, and it'll be one of their mechanism for clearing the country's debt. I asked him where he'd seen this info, of course, it was on twitter, and it's being suppressed by the main stream media. 

He honestly believed what he was saying as well. Absolute fruitcake.

I think it would be better if it was literally everything. Passport, driving licence, med records etc. At the moment it doesn’t seem to be anything like that. Either way it won’t bother me in the slightest if it’s gets the nod or not.
