Got to Rotherham early doors one year with @victor meldrew. Got refused entry to Milmore because I had a little too much to drink. Which I couldn't argue against. Mainly because I couldn't talk. Anywa

I like Burstow, and he offers us something a bit different. And I'm with you on his attitude. He doesn't moan or grumble when he's benched and always celebrates goals like he's scored them himself. Ev

He’s a 23 year old winger from Barbados. I get it, we want to see every player go flying into tackles to show how much they care, but if you don’t understand that he’s not going to be that player, that he’s not going to potentially get a shocking injury to get a Rotherham keeper sent off then your expectations are way out of line with reality.

I’m far from being his biggest cheerleader but he’s an easy target and in my opinion gets way more stick than he deserves. Some of the shit that was being thrown his way from behind me on Saturday was lunacy - he was being blamed for stuff when the ball was with our right back.

He’s young, he’s a 3rd division winger, he’s inconsistent, he’s probably hating the winter here and it’s his first season in England. He’s also got 5 goals and 2 assists in the equivalent of 15 full matches. Is he perfect, no, was I fucking fuming with him when he wasted about 4 chances in the last 10 minutes on Saturday, yes - I just can’t understand the amount of shit he gets relative to his output this season.

I'm not necessarily disagreeing but on the "he's from Barbados, he'll be hating the winter" point - he's been playing in Europe for nearly six years so if he's not used to the weather now them he never will be

Maybe he needs a lucky egg.

Agreed.

But regarding being a Barbadan over here he came here via Vienna & Poland. He's seen winters before.

Bit of generalisation, you’re right.

Although I’ve lived here for 34 years and hate the winter

You've not seen a proper Winter Eddie. The last was in 1981/2.

That's next season's problem. 1st job is getting there and I'd argue Gale has enough about him to get us there.

I hope so mate. I was really impressed with him when he first signed. I think he's got it in him - but something is just missing for me. I don't know if it's attitude, or intelligence or decision making. He's like a third division Raheem Sterling. Gets into brilliant positions - but seems not to be able to take advantage of them as regularly as I think he should.

Having said that - he's not my nemesis like Josh Sheehan 😁

For me, Gale is always looking for the spectacular, cutting inand shooting, when other players are in better positons.  I think he thinks he's better than he is. He rarely plays it simple.

There was a lot of frustration on Saturday. But as I said early he was constantly involved. Burstow was in theory playing wide right and we had nothing down that side yet I have seen very little comment on his performance.

Gale is a talented player but he will never be blood and guts flying into tackles type. With CBT and ACD out at least for Tuesday (for CBT) he is very likely to be starting and whatever people think of him, I can say with 100% certainty he will better with support than abuse. Probably say the same for Cissoko.

Could've got the Rotherham keeper sent off on Saturday but pulled out 😕

Wierd how folk see things differently, I've had to watch that bit again to see what you meant.

My view is that he showed decent skill and nimble feet to get past the keeper, stop him cleaning out man and/or ball, and giving himself what could have been an open goal or a pass to a striker with an easy tap in.  The shot wasn't great execution (although I've seen worse) but the pace and skill to get the opportunity firstly, and to avoid injury or losing possession, was superb.  He can be infuriating but I'm scratching my head as to how that incident is classed as a negative!

And let's not kid ourselves it would have been a red anyway, there were 2 or 3 defenders back.

Our winger is greedy, weak, soft, one footed, makes poor decisions, overhits or underhits crosses, shoots off target and is just too small physically for this league.

So that's Gale, Cissoko, Apter, ACD and Schon summed up.

It will be CBTs turn before we know it but his lack of game time is providing a stay of execution.

The point being they went up after finishing 10 points behind us, and everyone said they'd come straight back down (I certainly did).  They finished 17th, well clear of relegation above Stoke, Derby, Hull and PNE.  I think us and any other L1 team would take that next season.

It gives a club a foothold in the division, it doesn't give immunity from future relegation fights.

Second season syndrome . I didnt rate Oxford then and I dont now . If we went up Id expect us to invest better and finish higher than they did.

To me it looked like he slowed down and took a half step to avoid the contact. If he gets there first and dinks it / moves it, the keeper has to foul him. He made a 60-40 in his favour into a 40-60 and I think he was fortunate to come away with the ball

I'm not one to bash him though. I think he's very talented and can go a long way in the game

It was an observation, not so much a criticism - But as said, you can't blame the weather for him not putting it in at times. If he cracks the physical side, he'll be a hell of a player
