  • Thanks for all the support folks. From the bottom of my heart, thankyou all so much. The best and hardest thing I've ever done in my life.

  • Never ceases to amaze me this place. As much as we all bicker and spend days on end waffling shite to eachother I know we've all got eachothers backs. The support from folk on here has been

Indeed. If I was to mention that even on here I'd be instantly sentenced to a thousand lashes with 6mm micro-bore hose pipe with female brass connector on the end.

Just a quick reminder that there is no evidence that ice baths do anything other than make you feel very cold 😁

I do half an hour in the sauna then 3 minutes at 12 degrees

One thing they do is stop me sweating so I'm all for it

is it the same with cold showers as well? - My mate swears by them....I tried once, and decided it wasn't for me.

I watched that documentary about Big Sam the other day, with the cryotherapy chambers.

Also seen one about Andy Murray- he had baths full of ice.

They claimed to have data on improved healing etc.

Is this all bollocks then?

Are cold showers in the morning just an unnecessary fad amongst health fanatics?

Can't say I've ever had a cold morning shower, or an ice bath so wouldn't have an idea.

Yeah the benefits are massively overstated. There's some (weak evidence) that they might reduce stress and anxiety after 12 hours. But no evidence that they stimulate protein synthesis or muscle growth or help help repair tissue damage or any of the other claims you hear about them.

And the evidence for cryotherapy is even shonkier than I've baths.

I've no doubt it feels amazing to get out of one. But for me it's Feb equivalent to wearing a pair of trainers 3 sizes too small so that it feels amazing when you take them off 😁

Spare a thought for those blokes who are that size before the ice bath.

Woman I used to work with (decent handful) her husband is a sports scientist and would recommend a cold plunge after a sauna

Gym I used to go to had Hull FC rugby players doing the same so they think there must be summat in it

He also said there's loads of people who think you can sweat alcohol out of your system, which is complete bollocks

Sportspeople are some of the worst for believing in pseudoscience. They're probably into 'cupping' as well 😁

If you think Andy Murray is cold in an ice bath, wait til you meet him in a lift.

That boxer Tommy Coyle used to use the same gym

His trainer would rub honey into his skin whilst in the sauna

Thought it was bollocks but never raised it for some reason

Kinell, 150 grand for a pointless cryo machine!

No wonder he couldn't sign another striker 😀

Half our squad were in the ice baths in Astley Bridge today

Re ice-baths.

They are absolute bollocks unless you're running an ultra marathon then one the day after.

You feel great after because the body has released a load of shit that's to stop you fucking dying.
