SatanGreavsie Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Mooching about on a whim I found the video below. 10 years ago almost to the day (2nd April in fact) - Bromley winning at home to Lincoln in front of 1200. That very day saw Leicester 4 points clear at the top of the Prem, with a game in hand. Of course, they went on to famously win it, while Bromley and Lincoln ended up next to each other mid table in the National League. Fast forward 10 years and the best Leics can now hope for is playing Lincoln in the Championship next year. If they do drop then they'll almost certainly be playing Bromley in league 1. Goes to show. Well summat anyhow. Quote
Marc505 Posted March 22 Posted March 22 It is mad how things can change around in football in a relatively short space of time. We were playing Yeovil away in the Championship this day 12 years ago! Quote
green genie Posted March 22 Posted March 22 So we’ve just beaten Huddersfield who Woolwich Arsenal (first franchise team) raped pre war to get their history. The other 89 clubs should pay less respect to the ‘istree big three else the cycle will forever have a clipped top amplitude Quote

I've had to google it and if I'm honest and still don't understand it in the context you used it 😀 Quote
Tonge moor green jacket Posted March 22 Posted March 22 Cycles have an up and down. A max and a minimum. Clip the top, and that changes. If others bow down to recent (relatively) history, and don't look overall, then they will forever be in the shadow, and feel that challenging at the top is impossible. I suppose you only have to look at us, and how we were a bigger fish than Utd and Liverpool at one time. Not entirely sure I agree with his point though, as Leicester broke that ceiling, and the likes of Brighton, Bournemouth and Brentford continue to burst big clubs' bubbles. Tottenham, going the other way. West Ham too, but they're not averse to relegation. Quote

They aren't looking closely at the current upward trend from the last trough. Much greater than at the same point in previous cycles. Bit like fuckin Wrexham! 🤣 Quote
