  • I'm not sure there was an expectancy of Simons as such, it's just that he was so impressive early on. His form fell off a cliff, but that early form showed there is a very good player in there. D

No way.

SS seems to be an honourable chap, and I reckon he wouldn't want to be seen playing a weakened side against another pushing for a play-off berth.

Rest one or two maybe, but not wholesale.

We give the EFL a list containing 23/24 players they are all squad players.....No Haaland etc for Man City nothing is mentioned

Just need to stop Luton getting in the playoffs next Saturday-

They are the form team and look a dangerous team to me. Would be good to take them out of the equation.

Outstanding today.

Not only MOTM but if there was a "MOTM of the season", he wouldn't be far off.

End of season awards always have goal of the season, player of the season and loads of others, why do they never have an individual game of the season?  Probably because nobody can be arsed working it out.  But Cissoko in top 3 definitely.

Man of the match. By a distance. Caused them all sorts of problems all game. ACD had a quieter game but Cissoko was immense - I’d say his best game in a white shirt personally

I agree on both points but love the fact that ACD could have scored 3 , in a quieter game ! Sign im up !

Anyone but Stockport in the playoffs for me. They'll finish 3rd so we should be able to avoid them in the first round.

If (when) they beat Port Vale on Tuesday, we won't be mathematically able to play them in the play offs, realistically if we're going to play them it will be at Wembley.

Cissoko hopefully nailed his spot in the side after today

Miles ahead of gale

Earlier in the season, Gale was doing well, and Cissoko was getting absolute pelters.

Flavour of the month.

Whoever gets in simply has to deliver from now on in.

Not the point though is it.

We're a bit light on midfielders at the moment, and haven't got too many options in defence.

Wholesale changes would require youngsters, particularly on the bench.

That would weaken our team, potentially leading to a bad result in our last home game of the standard league.

It's not SS style to back off in such a way.

Would be happy with the team  that played at Cardiff two weeks back....ACD Forino,Rodrigues and Kenny on the bench

Would hate for one of those missing out on the play-offs if not needed

It's one match

We shouldn't worry too much about resting or risking anyone

Keep them playing together

Aye.

He tends to rotate some players anyway.

Dalby may be given more time with his ankle, and I'd expect JOT to come back in.

Conway possibly too.

Yep, no need to overthink it. It only invites criticism if we lose at home next week and then turn up half cooked in the playoffs.

We've actually played some of our best football of the season over the past few weeks even if it still isn't translating to results (2 wins in 9!).

Don’t know how anyone sits low down behind the goal for home games - I feel like I’ve no real idea how that game went, all perspective is lost (class when Kenny sticks it in that net though).

First half felt like it just went by without any real incident - did ACD hit the bar after about 15 mins?

Like @Tombwfc says, second half we looked far better and could have had a couple before Kenny scores that beaut (he’s very very good at this level).

Their goal was unbelievably avoidable. It all starts with ACD playing a pointless nothing pass inside when there was nobody on. Then as always a ball goes over our left back (looked like GJ should have had it on the full but missed it), then he does his usual and grabs after the player when he could have just tracked back and pushed him out wide. The free kick should have been dealt with by Bonham but he fucked it up, we looked like we’d got away with it and half cleared it and then suddenly it’s in the net (still no idea what happened).

Then straight back to us controlling the game.

From what I could see - Kenny class, Burstow probably his best game for us for a while, Cissoko unplayable, Rodrigues very comfortable and the rest did fine. We were unlucky not to win it (story of the season)!

Based on that, I really wouldn’t be arsed about getting them in the play offs. If we have them at home 2nd leg then we’ll easily get passed them, they’ve got very little.

Top away day, bring on the play offs.

Don't tell me. A point gained rather than 2 points dropped.

They were a hoof ball team , that could play a little bit,  playing for corners and free kicks . Scored with their only shot on target that we had 4 chances at clearing . Bonham tries to catch the ball and as he comes down it bounces off the bonce of Forinho . Seen it happen loads at higher leagues .

We hit the bar , had 2 cleared off the line , their keeper makes a worldy plus another very good save and we score a goal of the season contender again . Plus at least 2 other really good chances .

Ive no fear if we meet them over 2 legs.

We needed a point we got a point . other than that I couldnt give a monkeys chuff .

Rest ACD, Kenny, Rodrigues, Foirino,Dalby and even Cissoko next week ....Would not be bothered about playing Bradford first or second.....Would even put the young keeper in and see what he is like

Sooner that defence is broken up the better

I disagree hugely.  Today was a decent example of the difference between playing home and away when it gets to the nitty gritty last 10 or 15 minutes.  If that game had been a play off and gone to E-T, its a whole different ball game being away than having our crowd behind us at home, as we've seen countless times in league games.  Its huge to make sure we're at home in the 2nd leg given how tight every game is.

Cissoko superb today, really pleased for him, ran himself into the ground.
ACD not at the races by his own standard, but on another scores 3.
Sheehan & Rodrigues all over the pitch again.
Fantastic goal and good all round play from Kenny. At this level, he might just have it all, pace, aggression, strength, awareness and the ability to score. Bang in form right now and I fear Celtic will want £3m+ for him.

I think that's the concern ... 2 wins in 9.

Playing well, but can't get across the line to actually win.

Id pay the £3 mil . looks the full package and still very young .

Having said that Im one of the ones that baulked at the £1 million quid Celtic wanted to for us to sign him and we offered £550 k and bits . Now I wanna go back in time and rip their hands off .

Not as good as the last Celtic striker we had on loan and then signed but nobody is .

I should also add that Cyrus Christie possibly had his best game for us; we all know his limitations, but I thought he coped pretty well today. Forino was like a man mountain, but as a defence we do give far too many cheap free kicks away near our box.

As for Thierry Gale, he did nothing wrong.
