Yes but they were shit and achieved way beyond the quality of their players by finishing 5th. Different story for us its been a gradual thing

Boro have not done too bad this season, even with a serious injury hit squad. The key is how many players Sam can bring in to add to the current playing staff. The board must be looking at releasing at least the ??7mill for finishing 5th/6th/7th.

Sam would be able to get the quality we need with that amount of money!

Diouf - ??2.5 Liverpool

Camara - ??1.5 Wolves

??4mill spent and a good front line for next season's assault in all comps.

We would then need - a left back - (Oliver Bernard - free anyone?) , wide right player, and defensive/tackling midfielder (Lennon for our Rangers loving fans :D again on a free) - Sam can then use the ?? mill he has left to fund a massive party in prague for the fans!

boro, for the money they have spent in the last 6 years have massivly UNDER acheived.

their squad should be pusshing for 4th year in year out, but because both bryan robson and steve mclaren are 3rd rate managers, they are where they are for no other reason.

Given the injury problems they have had this year - to be with a shout of UEFA is a good season really and when you look at the money they have spent since Mclaren has been there (which I dont think is a lot but could be wrong- albeit massive amounts to us - ok he wasted some on MR) - I think they will have a good crack at it next season (Champs League).

JFH was a free but is probably on 50K per week

Viduka cost ??4.5M and is probably on around 50K per week

Mendietta was free but probbaly on ??50K per week

Ugo cost around ??6M and is probably on around 30K per week

Reizeger was free but is probably on around 25K per week

Souhgate cost around ??6m and is probably on around 30K per week

Boateng cost ??6.5M and is probably on around 25K per week

so them 7 players possibly draw around ??13m-??14m per year in wages, which is over half our total wage bill.

The money that club has spent out over the last 10 years or so is obscene, they should be achieving UEFA football every year as a minimum and certainly pushing for a CL place.

The again they are not to different from Spurs who pay similair transfer fees and wages

to be fair to boro, they need to pay over the odds in wages, cos it's an inbred, claims direct, declan swann infested shithole

Had a 'debate' with a Boro fan last week, he said that McLaren was a better manager than Allardyce & that we were just having a lucky season..............until then I thought the smoggy gary neville was OK [-X

They've spent millions & millions for years & have managed one league cup.

They'll always be in Newcastle, Sunderlands and even Leeds shadow. SMALL TOWN IN YORKSHIRE.

Apart from the odd ticketing hiccup, we must surely be the best run club in the Premiership.

What you on?

PS I thought the thread was a warning from BURNLEY at first and might have been interesting for some of the old school on here, but I was wrong.

have to agree with Burley, had we got in Europe with the squad we had after one season back in the top flight we would be in trouble

reckon we should be ok after 4 seasons though

cheers george
